I’ve fully committed to using the “Podcasts” feature in PLEX. Though the UI is clunky (which I hope will be updated in the future), I really like having all my media in one place. I’m also glad that the “Download” feature is available for offline play.
Can someone tell me if there’s a way to find the download location on an Android phone? Does PLEX download an actual audio file? I would like to save my favorite podcast episodes to a folder, preferably in an MP3 format.
Thank you.

Related to this, I am interested in a UI update that will show (or more easily show, if it already exists because I can’t figure it out) just my downloaded podcasts. As it is I have to navigate to the show then scroll down the “all episodes” to find my downloaded episode and play it from that specific page.
While annoying as it is, the real problem is that I often find myself locked out of data service due to my work and cannot then search the main UI for the episodes pages etc. The “loading…” (or whatever it says) popup implies that even when looking for my non-data-using downloads I am still pulling data, or trying to if locked inside my work location.
It can be better, based on other podcast apps out there.
the armv7a version is downloading podcasts internally and I want it to download to the SD card. I dont have the space on my phone and the download location should persist to the app download/sync location. @ManuelPG
There should be an option to change “On Deck” to “My Podcasts” in the home screen. I personally browse “My Podcasts” 95% of the time to find an episode I’m interested in and having an extra two clicks to get to it every time gets annoying.
We should have the option to hide/rearrange the “Podcasts” main screen. I was initially attracted to Plex because of its simple UI, which seems to be over-engineered recently. It would be nice to hide/rearrange “On Deck”, “Recommended”, “Categories”, “Popular”, “Recently Played”, etc.
“My Podcasts” should be on top. This is the most important menu for many people.
The main screen layout is aesthetically unappealing from a design perspective. Items such as “On Deck” and “Recommended” should be collapsible and items like “My Podcasts”/“Categories” should also expand to provide cover art. This way all menus are even and easier to read.
It takes four click to get to “All Episodes” of a podcast. This is an UI/UX oversight. Not all podcasts are listened to in chronological order. Some are listened to by topic, which many times can be a few weeks old. This would be alleviated by having “My Podcasts” as an option on the “Home” screen and eliminating the extra click for “All Episodes”. This would eliminate two actions.
What is the point of having an “All Episodes” option? Is it an app performance issue? Once I click on a specific podcast, at least 50 of the most recent episodes should be listed.
Being able to download actual podcasts in .mp3 format would be great. I personally would like to archive interesting episodes that I’ve listened to and be able to extract them onto an external HDD.
There should be a timer option for “On Deck” episodes. Not all shows are completely listened to. Sometimes an episode isn’t very interesting and I stop it halfway through. It would be nice to set a timer to drop the episode from “On Deck” after a specified amount of time.
I would like to see these changes made to not only “Podcasts” but other media sections within the PLEX mobile UI. I’ve read a lot of posts from upset PLEX users of the unnecessary interface changes that have recently been implemented. I know many of these changes were intended for ease of use and automation for the general public but PLEX users are more technologically savvy then your average user. We like to have a clean and customizable experience.
I’m a new user and learning how the PMS vs Win10 client and Android work, just using an ext hdd off a laptop for now. The podcasts onto my phone seems like a huge get that I can get rolling before I take the time to build up a spare pc for my actual closet server-nas.
*Playback speed in client app arm7a is not persistent when leaving the app and continuing playback. If going back to app playback goes back to 1x.
*synced podcasts are not the default, when playing back offline continuous play does not occur in queue with offline media, app streams next podcast from internet. (this can be difficult to gauge because offline is hard to separate in operating the app)
*sync does not work properly on podcasts that are all marked as played. No sync media placeholder stays in phone sync screen like when syncing shows or movies.
*sync appears to download to internal storage instead of SD card despite SD card being selected as media storage within plex client app.
You know how in TV episode sync you can set sync up to continue syncing as new unwatched episodes are added to Plex? If you try that with podcasts there’s no “pacleholder” in the sync menu when all episodes are marked as played and future episodes do not automatically download to the device.
