Plex Server Version: 1.40.0.7998
I’ve discovered that I’m re-recording shows that already exist. For example:
Original recorded 9/24/2020:
Wild Kratts - S03E22 - Chameleons on Target.ts
Re-recorded 3/1/2024:
Wild Kratts (2010) - S03E22 - Chameleons on Target.ts
The files are in the same directory: \xxxxserver\plex\PBS Shows\Wild Kratts\Season 03
How do I stop this re-recording? With 7 seasons of this show the duplicates are taking up a lot of space! I am recording repeats so I can build the entire catalog of some PBS shows for the grandkids.
FIXES:
(DVR) Replace Lower Quality was not taking effect (#14646 )
Uncheck this in the recording options for each scheduled recording.
You will have to rename any items that don’t include the year after the Series Title otherwise Plex will think the file doesn’t exist.
I do see that where the Agent use to say “Plex TV Series” now says “Plex Series” so don’t change it.

Why would Plex think they don’t exist when Plex recorded and named the files in the first place?
