As a product manger of 20+ years I have seen a lot of promising ideas come and go. I think I am most disappointed in Plex. I had a vested interest, was about to cut the cord… but this is no longer possible as Plex is a complete mess, and is no longer a viable commercial product.

I get it, a small group of people in a garage come up with a great idea, it turns into a hot product, things are great… but then stuff like features, product vision, customer feedback start conflicting… and things start falling apart.

I like your original idea, it IS an awesome idea and product… but, do not kid yourselves, you are not Steve Jobs. Either you bring in some creative Product Management and Marketing people or you are doomed.

Sorry, kinda harsh criticism… but I think complete failure is just a bit more harsh.

I was hoping he’d actually make a criticism based on experience, but reading again, what we get is an unsupported valley girl colloquialism, “Plex is a complete mess…” followed by unsubstantiated opinion, “is no longer a viable commercial product,” which is professional indeed.
