PLEX REQUEST: HOW TO DOWNSIZE GENRE LIST

My movie library is broken up into too wide of a variety of genres.

I would really like a way for me to ‘edit my library’ and merge genres.

Ie: In my library, say I wanted to view comedies, I get the following results:
Action Comedy, Adventure Comedy, Black Comedy, Comedy, Comedy Music, Comedy Drama, Horror Comedy, Police Comedy, Romantic Comedy, ■■■ Comedy, Workplace Comedy.

This is great, but I really don’t need all of those different breakouts of ‘Comedy’. If I could somehow edit my genres in an interface, which would allow me to check boxes next to the list of genres. Then could take my selection and have Plex automatically merge those genres into ‘Comedy’. This would allow me to see more of my comedies in a more general list.

*I’m sure this has been brought up many times, and this may not be the appropriate place to post this. I’m a long time Plex user and now Plex Pass Lifetime Member, and I would really love if this could be addressed.

First you should check your agent settings. My setup helps limit genres. I have 2000 movies and only eighteen genres. Make sure you have freebase set as the agent listed in the edit library advanced menu, then have the Movie Database above Freebase in Settings> Server> Agents> Freebase tab.

You can filter by genre and then multi-select (use the shift key speeds things up) and choose edit pencil, then tags. Delete the genre. One can also do this by editing the database.

Thank you astrofisher . Cleared up a bit my genres
