Searching music in my library for Plexamp seems to have trouble returning individual tracks that share their title with some or all of the album they are part of. The search appears to favor displaying the album, and hides the specific track, seemingly unless its title is typed exactly and in full. This is annoying in general, but it also makes singles nearly impossible to pull up individually, and makes browsing for music in the Sonic Adventure menu terribly annoying.
Examples:
Searching “Ziggy” will pull up the album “The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars,” by David Bowie, and the track “Ziggy Stardust (Live)” from “Santa Monica '72 (Live)” up until the point where I search for exactly “Ziggy Stardust” at which point the track “Ziggy Stardust” from the aforementioned album will actually show up.
Searching for “Carnival of” will pull up the album “Carnival of Rust” by Poets of the Fall, and the track “Carnival of Rust (Alexander Theatre Sessions)” from “Alexander Theatre Sessions,” but will not bring up the track “Carnival of Rust” until I type exactly that in the search bar. Conversely, searching for “Alexander Theatre Sessions” lists only the album, and none of the tracks with that in their name, despite the fact that every track on the album contains that phrase.
I kind of understand the intention behind this feature, but it’s terrible. As previously mentioned, it even takes effect in the Sonic Adventure menu, which is extremely annoying given that the search in that menu only displays individual tracks, and not albums, making finding some tracks in that menu extremely difficult.
EDIT: This issue also happens in the main Plex apps. I mistakenly had thought it did not when I posted this, but it does.
