Plex server build

Hi Guys

I need some help building my plex server. I live in the UK, have over 40tb of media (will increase with more 4k content) and would like to share this with around 20 maybe 30 people all family and friends. My current upload bandwith is around 35mbps but soon will have upto 1Gbps. Now i have been looking into building a server with a powerful cpu but have recently looked into to hardware transcoding using a gpu specifically the nvidia quadro p5000 and have read some good reviews. I dont mind overkill and have around £7000 to spend.

I would like to build a pc with the following specs:

Case: Corsair Obsidian 1000D
Motherboard: Asus Rog Strix x299 E - Gaming
CPU: intel core i9 9900x 3.4ghz 10 core 20 thread overclocked to 5.0ghz
CPU Cooling: Corsair Hydro X
RAM: 64gb Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR4 3200MHz
Graphics Card: Nvidia Quadro P5000
Storage Drive: 2tb Samsung 860 QVO 2.5’ SSD
512gb intel m.2 for OS and plex
64gb Intel m10 optane memory
PSU: 650w corsair VS series
Plenty of case fans
Running windows 10.

Now would this be a good system?
Would the p5000 work with windows 10?
Is there anything im missing?
Can i use 2 p5000 graphics cards together to increase the number of trasncodes?
Can i increase anything on this system to improve performance?

Any help will be appreciated.

Lofty system. Your internet upload would definitely have to increase.

I would opt for the newer 10 Gen CoreX chip, especially with Intel dropping the price by 50%. Since it seems like everything will be transcoded 1 core per stream would be good.

Core i9-10980xc 18C/36T

Power supply is too small, Mboard will pull 300-400 and the video could pull 200-300, won’t leave much for drives.

If you can, get a newer RTX 2,4,5000 to pick up additional HEVC formats but Plex can only use one GPU before it drops to CPU. Quantity of GPU Ram will factor in on how many 4K streams it will handle.

Windows 10 Pro would give you the best driver support.

Hi tiebierius and thanks for replying.

Ok what psu would you recommend? Obviously as energy efficient as possible and quiet?

I have seen some youtube videos showing upto 40 1080p and around 12 4k stream with the quadro p5000.

Check this site out. It should help you size your PSU

The RTX3000 looks interesting with its 3 decoders.
