Plex server continually locking up

OK thank you for the info. I have run up a new PMS as a physical server rather than through a virtual layer will give this a go. Interestingly although my watch history is backed up it only seems to have backed up to a point in time a while ago and everything past that point is not updated. can I manually force a backup of my watch history?

No , you can’t force a backup of your watch history.

You can however, if you’re comfortable with the command line,

  1. Copy the DB from the VM PMS to the regular file system
  2. Use DBRepair to import watch history into your native PMS
