I’ve noticed quite a few times on this last update that I’m going to play something on Plex and find the server is unavailable. A simple double click on the app icon and it launches to taskbar again and all is good for a few hours or so.

hmm… from what I can see, those logs show 1 actual crash that seems to have happened while Plex scanned your music library (apparently during some scheduled maintenance task). However there’s no obvious error showing in the logs that explains or implies what has caused the crash itself.
Seems this happened every night for the last 3 nights.
Does this also happen if you manually trigger a scan for your music library?
As a temporary workaround you could disable the automatic/scheduled library scans for your server.
it also crashed at some point yesterday afternoon/early evening as my friend was trying to watch the England vs Scotland match which started at 8pm but server was showing as unavailable. Not sure what would have triggered that as scheduled scans should happen at about 4am
fair point… I had missed that one – though that seems to be a different problem with the audio encoder – at least it’s there’s only that one occurrence showing in your logs.
I’m going to keep an eye on it for a few days and see if it keeps happening overnight after the music scanner kicks in.
Just carried out a manual scan on the music library and it seemed to crash it. Is there any way of disabling just the scanning of the music library or will i have to disable the maintenance deep scan?
This is happening with me also, started doing it right after I updated PMS. Seems to crash at exactly 2 hours. I’ve also uploaded my logs
Mine ends up crashing even more often. When browsing on the client or during playback. I can’t go longer that like 20 minutes before it crashes

I just looked through my settings and noticed that I had Plex set to scan my library every 2 hours, just reset it for 12 I’ll let you know if this fixes it
May have found the issue, I went ahead and disabled “Scan my library periodically” and Plex has been running now for almost 6 hours. Could be a bug in the latest update.

This fixes also my issue, thanks for the feedback.
my server crashed again last night so ive now disabled periodic scanning. Will see what happens tonight but it looks like this is a bug in recent release. Seems similar to the old bug where library scan would lock up on scanning music library.

Only took me two days to figure out it was something simple. Hope the Developers can figure it out and fix it on the next release.
yeah the fact it has a pattern to it helps. My library is set to do regular updates every 24hours so that fitted with the 4am crash logs.
yet another crash last night after turning off the “Scan my library periodically” option. Doesnt look like its that function thats causing it. Must be something to do with the maintenance period Im guessing as that should be 4am
edit scheduled tasks are set to start at 3am, seems to drop out at just after 4am
I’ve been running for over 24 hours with out an issue with library scans disabled. This morning I noticed there is a new update to version 1.23.3.4707 which I applied, I then changed PMS to scan my libraries every 15 minutes and so far no issues so hopefully this latest update has fixed any issues. I’ll leave these settings for the next few hours and see if it crashes
The release notes for 4707 mention a fix for a scanner crash, so hopefully that’s it. I’ve updated and will re-enable periodic scanning to verify.
I’ll give it a go tonight too if I remember
