I recently installed Plex server for windows on a new Windows 2016 server.
The system is fine during the day… But the plex server is not running in the morning.
I saw one crash in the eventlog for 1/4/17, but none for 1/5/17…
Do I need to setup the Plexserver.exe to run as a service?
Did your server reboot overnight? Microsoft released out of band critical updates on the 3rd. If you don’t have Plex in your startup folder, and your server rebooted, that would be a logical reason.

sounds like a crash when running the Plex Media Server scheduled tasks
Please make sure you are running with debug logging enabled - I is enabled by default
In Plex Web app, settings / server / general / show advanced
When the crash occurs, restart the server and get the logs zip
in Plex Web app, settings / server / help / download logs
Then post here with zip file attached
This continues to happen 1-3 times a week for me. PlexPy notified me at 4:12am EST on 2/8/2018 that the server was not responding. I have my scheduled tasks set to run between 4-6am with all options selected except for “Update all libraries during maintenance” and if the server becomes unavailable, it is always during this 2 hour window. Some nights the tasks run without issue.
I’ve attached the logs as requested.
Another set of logs without verbose. Server became unavailable around 4:10am EST.
