I mostly listen to Indian/Bollywood music where each track can have a different genre within an album which is basically a movie name. Even when the album name, album artist, year are identical, plex music creates multiple albums in the database because genres of each track are not identical. How do I ask Plex to ignore genre?
That doesn’t sound right.
Can you show an overview over embedded meta tags of an example album?
Something like this:
Are the “track number” tags populated in your files?
Does every track have both “Artist” and “Album Artist” tags populated?
Sorry my bad. It is not due to genre but due to different folder path. Basically, some tracks from the same album are split into multiple folders in the hard drive due to past errors and I have not fixed this. However, the metadata is still correct and as I said, album artist, album name, year are identical for these tracks. Can plex ignore the folder structure and just categorize the music based on metadata?
Thanks for your prompt response and looking forward to an answer.
It cannot, I’m afraid. You can Merge and Split Albums and Artists, though.
Or you repair the folder structure and store all tracks of an album together in one folder.
Have you checked the Album Artist tag to see if it matches for the whole album? If there are multiple artists setting it to “various artists” for all songs may fix the issue.
