I am going to be re-installing the windows pc that is my plex server with a new ssd, so to prepare to do so I just moved my Application folder from C:\users\user\appdata\local to my D: drive.
To do so, I set the new location to D:\AppData\Local\ in Settings->Server->General, I then shut down the sever, restarted it to create the new folder, then shutdown the server again and copied the “Plex Media Server” to the new location.
When I restarted plex, all the libraries are there, all the old metadata is there, but any new files, in any section that I add, is not getting new images. The metadata, movie details etc is updated, but no images. Screenshots attached.
If I edit the movie manually, the images are skinny rectangles, it looks like it thinks there are movie posters downloaded, or maybe there are, and then it can’t find them, I attached this screenshot as well.
I have also attached my Media Server and scanner logs if that helps.
Thanks for any help.

Is your D: drive not using NTFS, but ReFS or DrivePool? Then it’s not gonna work.

You need to have the Plex Data folder on partition with a filesystem which supports ‘symbolic links’.
Yes, I use Stablebit DrivePool, does that mean there is no way I can get this to work?
I’ve read a little more, and I see that is for sure not going to work.
One more question though, we don’t do a lot of transcoding, but we do sync a lot to our phones, so would it make sense to move the transcoding folder to the drivepool, would that work? DrivePool does support symlinks, just not hard links. Would there be any performance hits doing this way? Just trying to prevent so many writes to the SSD, I think space wise I’m going to be ok.

I guess you have to find out for yourself, I have no experience with drive pool, sorry.
But the space for the transcoder temp is only needed as long it is not fully uploaded to the phone.
Afterwards the space gets released again.
As your library grows, you’ll have to plan for a separate drive for the plex data folder anyway, it can get really big.
