Hi

I have Plex server installed in a HP microserver Gen10 running xpenology with DSM 6.2-23739. PS stops randomly, sometimes once in a week, sometimes daily. when that happens i have to run again the app in package center.

I checked all permissions in shared folders and i think everything is ok, but maybe not or it’s a different problem.

I atacched the logs, thanks in advanced.

Would you please turn VERBOSE logging back off? It should be off by default, with DEBUG on.

In Verbose mode, I can see only about 2 minutes of elapsed time. The buffer is only 26 MB deep.

We can look again after that.

Ok, i disabled verbose logging. I’ll wait until next time PS crash to post the logs.

Thanks so much

Hi again

@Firol,

you have more directories to monitor than DSM allows by default (8192)

DSM itself is going nuts and taking Plex right with it.

You need to increase the table size.

I will recommend starting here. My bold text is what you type.

  1. Sign in to the Synology using ssh (putty will do for this)
  2. sudo -su root ( to gain admin level permission)
  3. echo s2s_watches_max=\“65536\” >> /etc/synfo.conf
  4. Restart DSM

It’s done! I’ll take a look next days in order to check if everything works fine.

Thanks so much

You can check this very easily yourself, if you wish.

Download the logs.
Unzip it.

Look for the [Notify] messages. All (13: Permission denied) should be gone.

Hi

During 2 weeks PS works fine, but yesterday crashed again. Here are the logs

To add to Trumpy’s post.

DNS lookup failure:

I just enabled crash reports.

My tv shows directory is /volume3/Series, every show has its own folder and sub folder if there are several seasons, but I think there aren’t unnecessary folders.

Anyway, two weeks ago I increased DSM table size like @ChuckPa suggested, it seemed to work but unfortunately looks like not the final solution.

About DNS failure, I’ll have to search what’s the reason.

So sorry, my mistake.

I checked library settings and i don’t see nothing wrong. The movies are in other volume (paste screen too) but it wouldn’t be a problem no?

I checked inotify table size and indeed it was wrong. Table size was in “8192” value, i changed again the value with the command, restarted the nas and now the value it’s correct “65536”.

echo ‘s2s_watches_max=“65536”’ >> /etc.defaults/synoinfo.conf

It’s very strange because when i changed two weeks ago, PS worked fine until last friday, but i didn’t check the value with the command cat /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches like now. It’s possible inotify table size changed automatically for any reason?

Thanks in advanced

Thanks so much for all your help. Now i’ll be able to look for where is the problem (if any) for myself.

Me again :frowning:

Last night i updated PS to the last version 1.16.5.1554. This morning had crashed again, the first thing i checked if the inotify table size was correct and it’s ok.

I checked plex folder and i noticed my user and plex user didn’t have read/write acces. That happened after the upgrade, before i’m sure it was right, maybe for that reason PS crashed? anyway, it’s normal after every upgrade permissions are reseted?

Here are the logs

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-08-27_08-38-47.zip (1.7 MB)

I’ve done all steps from Q18 guide to correct permissions and theorically DNS should be fine.

Cross my fingers

Thanks again for all your help
