Plex support for EPG over the air?

Just wondering if plex will ever have EPG support from over the air? Majority of data would be downloaded from the internet, but having beginnings and ends of series synced to the EPG data from the television provider, instead of telling plex to record 2 minutes prior and 5 minutes after, would be make movies and TV shows a lot more convenient on revisiting.

My Sat>IP is working perfectly with plex and can support EPG transfer to clients. A real pity that it isn’t being used… and that sat>ip functionality has been removed in newer version of plex.

Epg over air - probably not. It is only really usable in Germany and maybe a few other places but not internationally. And it’ll require a lot of country-specific fine tuning.

SAT>IP support wasn’t removed.
Actually it never was officially supported in the first place. However, it does kinda work with a few devices, although the tuner will be marked as ‘officially unsupported’ in the user interface of Plex.

Ah, thank you for your message. I thought the OTA EPG information was available Europe wide.

However, I have to disagree with you on the SAT>IP support not being removed. Running plex version 1.9.3.4290, I am given these option:

But running the latest plex version, these options disappear and I get a more limited selection where I am only able to select Satellite, then DVB-S and get no results:

Would love unofficial support to return, but for now it looks like SAT>IP is broken in the latests plex releases.

EPG over the air is across most of the Europe, not just Germany. But we get it, its not in the US so “few other places” dont count.

No need for the snark, I am affected by this as well - being located in Germany.
I was merely relaying the current stance on this.
Economy is the deciding factor here. The effort is considerably high, the possible returns are relatively small.
Even in Germany, you don’t get accurate programmation times per OTA-EPG. (this only works with the publicly-funded stations. The private stations are sometimes either wantonly putting in wrong times or they just cannot be arsed to update the OTA-EPG in cases of programme changes.)

Sorry for snark comment. I do get quite a good EPG in DVB-S and DVB-T in EU.

I’ve been using DVBlink EIT scanner for 5+ years without an issue. AFAIK Plex Live TV backend is based on /written by DVBLink people.
