I’m playing around with Plex Meta Manager and noticed that the token shown in the link to any XML file (see Finding an authentication token / X-Plex-Token | Plex Support) differs with the token set in the Preferences.xml file of the Plex Media Server. Is this normal behaviour?
It’s normal. Different tokens are used in different places and have different lifecycles.
This token is the one the client uses to talk to the server.
This is the one the server uses to talk to plex.tv
These two tokens will not work in the other’s case. This is very intentional.
