I’m frustrated. I’m trying to help, and you aren’t sharing the information I’m asking for.
What buttons did you click on? What did you see?
There’s a step in between “Browse to a library item” and “view the XML for it”.
I suspect you’re taking a shortcut and think that “view the XML for it” means something it doesn’t mean.
thanks for your help Im not trying to frustrate you Im giving you everything that Im doing to the best of my knowledge from the article which Im doing step by step and still no plex token is it possible to submit a support ticket with plex

Please don’t say “yes” or “I’m following the instructions”. Please say what YOU are doing, and what YOU are SEEING.
When looking at a Movie or Episode:
Do you see the ... drop-down menu?
Are you clicking on the ... drop-down menu?
Do you see Get Info in that menu?
Are you clicking on Get Info in that menu?
Does a window labeled Media Info pop up?
Do you see a button labeled View XML?
while playing a movie I see and click on the drop down menu after clicking on get info in the menu I get the media info pop up and I click on the view XML in the bottom left and it opens XML in which I can not find the plex token
Maybe not authenticated with the “List of IP addresses allowed with authentication” setting enabled?

Thank you.
Not playing a movie, right? Just looking at the info screen for the movie before playing it?
But that’s OK - if you’re getting to the XML, that’s great.
The token isn’t IN the XML. It’s in the browser address bar / URL ABOVE the XML.
It should be the last item in the URL.
Do you see the URL? It should start with ip.ad.dr.es:32400/library/metadata .......

If that’s the case - will Python-PlexAPI work if the token is empty or undefined?
did it without playing the movie and found the token thanks

Yes, in that case Python-PlexAPI would work without a token, but it won’t work with an incorrect token.
