Plex Transcode runner appears to have died

Hi all,
i am facing this issue when running movie on my plex (via Samsung TV). suddenly movie will stop. looking into logs, i can see Transcode runner appears to have died.

Server Version#: latest
Player Version#: Samsung (TV UE55H8000)

Same thing started happening to me as well :

For the db issue, I went through the whole restore a corrupt database link and by running the optimize database via curl by I don’t know if this is related to the transcoder dying or if they are two issues, but I experience the same issue where it dies and the video stream cuts off.

May I see:

  1. Please recreate the problem.
  2. After it fails
  3. Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs
  4. Attach the ZIP file

It’s impossible to debug from snippets.

I don’t even know what OS or PMS version here. “Latest” isn’t helpful. Sorry

I’m seeing this same issue, and I have logs - do you want me to upload them?
I’m running the beta version of PMS 1.16.4.1469

It’s happened to me across a variety of content types and resolutions, and only seems to be an issue when accessing remotely.

Yes please. If you can also grab the XML (hover over the item you played -> expose the ellipsis -> Get Info -> View XML) but only the media part , not the artist/genre parts then paste it like this:

it will come out like this

This is now perfectly readable and the forum won’t misinterpret it as formatting… With them, the XML will usually vanish.

I see this is a Windows system, not Linux.

I can only advise to a limited extent.

  1. You are using PMS 1.17.0. Much has been corrected since the initial transcoder update released in 1.17.0. I advise updating to 1.18.1

  1. After updating, refresh your metadata. There have been scanner improvments introduced in 1.18.0. If you have music indexed, you will see those files being updated.

When all is complete, please retest.
