I’m on Fedora Linux 42 running kernel Linux 6.16.8-200.fc42.x86_64 with the plex desktop installed via flatpak (obviously :-)).

Seconded, same issue on my desktop app.

Getting the same thing, yeah (Fedora 42). It took them forever (many many months) last time this happened (last year), so I’m afraid we’ll have to look at those messages for a LONG time.

Thank you for making an engineering ticket so quickly. I’m looking forward to the fresh build. Is there anywhere we can follow along with progress?

I’ve spotted that the Flatpak is no longer maintained? @ChuckPa can you shred light on this to why the Flatpak store says this?

I don’t see it mentioned on https://flathub.org/en/apps/tv.plex.PlexDesktop.

BTW… the plex htpc client also needs updating but plexamp does not.

Spotted it in the software store store on Ubuntu, when clicking on it it’s down the page, I’ll post it when I get back home….

But it says it on your image that they’ve both stopped receiving updates…. I hope this is just a error?

It’s stopped receiving updates because a core component is end of life. Plex need to update the app and chuck created an engineering ticket to do it.

Cheers for the explanation, I was getting worried that the apps were run being shelved. I hope the glitches in opengl if it’s that what’s causing the white boxes flashing?

I have tried the Workaround on both Snap and Flatpak and it just isn’t helping…. would be nice to finally get a working version after the issue was first acknowleged that QT was the issue for the white glitches…. 2 years and counting…. Abandoned we are?

Are you talking about this Weird white squares all over the place with latest version - #128 by vector_zero ? If so that works for me as I’ve not seen the white boxes since I applied it.

BTW… maybe keep that discussion on that thread as its not related at all to org.freedesktop.Platform 23.08 not getting updates.

I shall do, but it seems the whole Place desktop app needs updating? I can’t get the workaround to work so I’m at dead end!

Any update on this?
The end-of-life messages are getting annoying when updating my flatpak’s from the cli.

What’s the status? Github issue shows update to 25.08 has had nothing done since Sep 10th. Will the Plex Desktop Flatpak be updated soon?

If only @ChuckPa or someone from Plex would give us the answer to this one, we’re running on outdated code, and Plex aren’t bothered? that’s what it looks like in users eyes!

Honestly, not sure what more you expect. Chuck has said & confirmed a ticket has been created for engineering, so they’ll get to it when their limited resources get to it.

ATM, its only an annoyance, there is no functional problem with running on this older no longer maintained runtime library. To my knowledge, there is no security vulnerabilities outstanding so at worst this is just as I say, an annoyance every time we update our flatpaks.
