Hi, just a general question. When i visit app.plex.tv/desktop if gives me the https site as intended. MY question is what is plex.tv? Is that something that plex hosts meaning they have access to my content and it’s streaming from them when i watch? Or is it some local address that is configured automatically with the server install?
It’s the hosted version of the web client.
You can use the local web client packaged with your server install as well: http://server.local.ip.address:32400/web

Great thanks i think this part from that article answered my other question:
When using the hosted Plex Web App, your connection does not go “through” the plex.tv website. Communication happens between the browser and Plex Media Server directly.

Correct. The local and the hosted web app work the same.
The hosted one is just more modern.
