I cannot work out what is wrong with my Plex installation. The symptoms are constant buffering to the extent where it’s not possible to watch anything. However, streaming using a device such as Airflow works seamlessly. I also have a lot of problems with the drives staying connected in OSX, and have sought to get around this by using a programme called Amphetamine to keep the drives awake and I use a programme called Volume manager to map establish the drives for Plex.
I can’t see any issues with hardware running out of processing power or memory and feel like this is likely to be a configuration issue.
Server
I have a 2018 Mac mini running 3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5 with 8 GB 2667 MHz DDR4. It’s running Sequoia 15.0.1. The device is connected via Ethernet to a 8 port hub.
Storage
All the media is on a MyCloudEX2Ultra 12TB NAS. The device is connected via Ethernet to a 8 port hub.
8-port hub
The 8-port hub is a TP-Link TL-SG1085, 8 port gigabit device.
DHCP Server / Router
The network is supported by a Linksys 2 node mesh system (MX5500 Series), the hub is attached to the child node. I obviously have no idea whether any of the network traffic needs to hit the parent node, but I would assume that it does not.
Help please! Let me know if you need more information for troubleshooting.
