I would like to make a suggestion for future development. You can do whatever you would like with it, or nothing at all. It’s up to you (the developers.)
Many people feel nostalgia for the days when they could walk into a video store and browse hundreds or thousands of movies, look at the video/dvd cover, select their movie that they would like to watch. Isn’t this the origin of the feeling of satisfaction that most PLEX users experience when collecting and organizing digital movie libraries?
What if PLEX users could walk up and down the aisles of their very own “video store,” reach out and grab their movies, organize their movies on shelves and different sections of their movie library, save different configurations of how they would like to physically/virtually browse their movies: Whether by genre, alphabetically, director, etc…
In a world where VR has made it possible to feel like you are actually in a different world/environment, it is only a matter of time before SOMEONE grabs a hold of this concept and runs with it. With millions of people feeling nostalgia for browsing movies in a video store and hardly any video stores left, this would be a great addition to PLEX.
I was looking to see what kind of VR (HTC VIVE) support (if any) and ran across this AWESOME post. I was thinking of just some VR Cinemas but this is a brilliant idea! AND to be the FIRST to create something like this would be HUGE! Image, you feel like watching a movie with your VR… You start plex and put it on your VR…(Maybe Vive in room scale). Your library is now categorized as your own video store… or maybe it’s the Library of Congress or New York Public Library or your picking your movie from “red box”. It would be just as fun picking your movie as it will to watch it on your IMAX screen or at the Sundance Kabuki Cinemas @ San Francisco. The best thing is - it’s never been done (YET).
I also love this idea, but not everyone has a $300 gaming headset. Maybe if support for the VR library was extended to smartphone-based VR platforms as well (such as Samsung Gear VR or Google Daydream).
