Plex Web 4.117.2 gets stuck in an ~infinite loop if a library is scrolled to the end too quickly

With Plex Web 4.117.2 (currently using Edge 118.0.2088.46 on Windows), scrolling too quickly through a library results in much slower/~infinite load times than previous versions. When I do the following:

  1. Navigate to a TV library with a decent number of episodes (mine has a bit over 1000)
  2. Switch to Episodes view
  3. Make sure the episode grid has focus
  4. Press End

It appears that nothing’s loading, but devtools show the app is seemingly in an endless loop sending requests for the same episodes over and over (all requests below are identical, with the same X-Plex-Container-Start):

I tried to replicate this but can not.

I am on Edge Version 118.0.2088.61 which is a later version but may not have an impact.

PMS Version 1.32.7.7621
Plex Web Version 4.117.2

Edit - oh and I am on Win 11 Pro 22H2. Plex is running on an SSD. CPU is an ageing 2700X with 16GB RAM and GPU is also an ageing RX580X.

Strange. I just updated everything (PMS to 1.32.7.7621, Edge auto-updated to 119.0.2151.24), threw together a test library with ~1000 episodes, and still get a consistent repro (Imgur butchered the resolution, but it gets the point across): https://i.imgur.com/CyjQAbe.mp4

Same with the MacOS app ( 1.80.2.4006-b40ed11c)

This issue is isolated to the Plex web version and not any browser or PMS version. Our desktop apps will also be affected as they share similar code with the web client. A fix is being worked on.

Impacted versions:

  • Plex web version (4.117.2)
  • Plex desktop version (1.80.2)

Fixed an issue that could cause library items to fail to load when skipping to the end of the page
