Server Version#: any version after Feb. 2021
Player Version#: Plex Web versions after Feb. 2021
Extras do not display in any items in the library type of Other Videos in Plex Web (they did display near the end of last year). This is apparent on Windows PC server, Windows Plex Web and Windows Plex Player. Oddly, the Windows Plex Media Player works fine as do players for iOS devices. There is no problem with Extras for libraries of the Movies type, just the Other Videos type.
I chose to have an Other Videos library for personal stuff. A good example as to why Extras would be nice to work is that I have a full concert of a local band with extras that are shorter promo videos and single song videos. Placing these types in a Movies type library doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Yep… that still seems to be an issue (as per your original post that had already been auto-closed).
Let me check if Plex is already aware / looking into it.
Another issue with Other Videos libraries is that the posters are in landscape mode instead of portrait mode. This may be intentional by developers, but it destroys the continuity of the rest of Plex libraries and at the same time makes it impossible to use real posters when they are available for content in Other Videos libraries. These need to go back to portrait mode. PLEASE!
If you want local extras, you need to use the “Plex Movie Scanner” instead of the “Plex Video Files Scanner”.
Another way would be to use “Plex Movie” for both Scanner and Agent. This would then also result in portrait posters.
However, you’d then have to manually “unmatch” every new item, because by default the Plex Movie agent will try to match your file to an existing movie title.
I was already using the Plex Movie Scanner. Local extras was working fine until a server update around February of this year. That one update broke the extras and produced the landscape posters for PMS on Windows as well as Plex Web. iOS players are not affected. I need to check my Fire Stick. The Plex Media Player app on Windows shows the extras, but I refuse to use it because there is a stutter problem with all MP4 video files (don’t ask me why, but it drops a couple frames every couple seconds throughout the whole viewing).
