Plex web player rendering dark

Server Version#: Version 4.100.1
Player Version#: Web version through any browser

When I play a video file through my browser, it renders it dark and I can barely see anything in certain scenes. When i open that file manually on the same device it is much brighter. It happens to different types of movies. Any idea where to look start looking to figure this out?

Video color settings in the GPU driver settings.
I can only assume, because you omitted practically every detail about your setup.

On the same device, the same video, if I play it through a regular media player (native to windows) it renders bright. When i use the plex browser (chrome or edge) is when I get the problem. The other strange thing is, it’s not all videos, only some of them.

Which other setup pieces should I be looking at (not certain which other plex parts are relevant, I just set it up and it worked)?

I meant the fact that you are using a Windows machine.
Also which type of GPU is inside.

Have you looked into the video driver software settings?

I have a 4070ti, but if the video through the regular media player isn’t dark, software for the gpu wouldn’t be causing the darkness.

Have you looked into the video driver software settings?

I did look, but can’t find a setting specific to the player. I don’t want to increase all the brightness on my device because its the correct brightness for everything else.

Open the nVidia control panel.
Under “Video”, set everything to Default settings.
Then adjust the hardware brightness of your monitor.
If you have any 3rd-party color correction software running or have a custom color profile, disable and reset that as well.
Then go from there adjusting your settings.
