Plex Web refresh loop on Safari, macOS 12.3 beta and iOS 15.4 dev beta

Hi there

Just reporting this as it seems to be happening to me on my recent updated apple devices.

When using safari to access Plex Web, the page constantly reloads until eventually safari just displays a generic error about “A problem repeatedly occurred…”. If I load Plex Web and quickly click the settings wrench, it will let me in, but as soon as I go back to the ‘home’ screen it starts reloading again. The plex app for mac works fine

The page seems to load fine using Firefox on the Ubuntu Plex server itself.

This is occurring on Safari on macOS 12.3 beta and Safari on iOS 15.4 developer beta. I’ve attempted to clear all browsing data as well as resetting defaults etc through Plex web.

I’m on an older version of PMS where HW HDR tone mapping still works but I did briefly upgrade to the latest version to see if that fixed the issue but it didn’t.

Server Version#: 1.22.1.4228

Same here.

And in Safari Technical Preview 139, too.

It’s related to partially played items.

I can view any Libraries that have no in-progress content.

If I partially watch any movie in the Library, (so Plex has the partial yellow progress bar), it does the “A problem repeatedly occurred …” error.

If I use another browser and mark all items as fully Played or Unplayed, no crash in Safari.

Yes, I saw this here also.
In all other browsers (Vivaldi, Chrome, Opera) it is working fine.

Only iOS/iPadOS/macOS Safari 15.4 is not working.

I am seeing this too! Safari Version 15.4 (17613.1.14.1.7)

For some reason only two accounts that require PIN are affect… the ones that don’t require PIN work fine, one account that does require PIN works fine :man_shrugging:t5:

Works fine in MS Edge browser!

I can confirm… weirdly… this does stop the tab from crashing and the error

Happens in Safari Technology Preview Release 139 (Safari 15.4, WebKit 17613.1.14.41.3) too.

Also happening for me in MacOS, iOS, and iPadOS … ever since installing the latest developer beta on all.

macOS Monterey 12.3 beta (21E5196i)
iOS 15.4 (19E5209h)
iPadOS 15.4 (19E5209h)

This is also affecting me in Safari. Chrome works fine. I saw a post on here that said it has to do with “in progress” videos and I did have two videos in the “Continue Watching” area that were “in progress”. I went into chrome, marked them as played, just to remove them, and reloaded on Safari and the Home Screen loads as normal. Very interesting. Someone fix it.

I think this has been fixed in later Apple betas. Anybody else?

I believe so, if not it’s in Technology Preview.
