Is there a web of getting events from apllex (or other clients) when they start playback. I know webhooks. But they seem to be based off my server.
How can you get playback events of my client from a remote server?

Unfortunately you cannot.
playback.started is only sent to the server owner. If you are playing from a server that is not your own, its owner may get a webhook, but not you.

So how does trakt know that I’m playing something from a remote server? And it seems to get progress updates (I’m watching it now). I was tailing my server log when I played something from a remote server. Nada
According to the documentation, webhooks are following your account to other servers.
I assume that trakt is not listening to playback.started, but media.play or media.scrobble instead.
So, once again, you need to be able to actualyl receive those webhooks from the remote server. If your receiver is only running inside your own home network, it it’ll probably not be able to do that. Unless you take additional measures, like e.g. on your router, or move the receiver into the WAN side.
Oh so because trakt is on the wan side it’s able to see those events.
Does that mean if I have a vps I could potentially listen to eternal events from there?
Yes, that would be one option.
