Plex Windows Media Player kein Install möglich?

Hallo Gemeinde,

ich habe seit längerem einen Plex Server laufen, den ich ausschließlich als “Musik-Server” nutze (Spotify-Ersatz).

Ich habe leider feststellen müssen, dass es oft Probleme mit dem Starten des Media-Players für Windows gibt, sobald ein neues Update verfügbar wurde und das installiert wurde. Nach dem Setup öffnet es sich meist noch sofort, aber nach einem Neustart sieht man kurz das Fenster von Plex und dann ist es auch schon weg. Eine Lösung war bisher auf der Homepage die .exe zu laden und einen Repair durchzuführen.

Leider hat es diesmal nicht funktioniert und ich bekomme Plex gar nicht mehr installiert:

PlexMediaPlayer-2.18.0.893-48795f25-windows-x64.exe

Nach dem Klicken auf “Install” bekomme ich den Fehler “Es wurde keine Aktion durchgeführt, da ein Neustart des Systems erforderlich ist.”

Nach unzählige Neustarts passiert natürlich nichts und es kommt immer die gleiche Meldung.

Als Fix hab ich versucht eine ältere Version zu installieren.

PlexMediaPlayer-2.17.0.890-7d18e33d-windows-x64.exe

Jedoch erfolgt die Installation auch nicht wirklich.

Ich hoffe man kann mir irgendwie helfen.

Probier mal einen ‘gründlichen’ Neustart von Windows:
cmd.exe öffnen
eintippen shutdown /g /t 0 + <Enter> drücken

Hey, danke für die Rückmeldung.

  • Das Betriebssystem ist Windows 10 Pro 64Bit.
  • Restart via CMD habe ich als Administrator versucht, leider nach dem Starten der Setup, gleiche Meldung.
  • plexamp habe ich ausprobiert, aber mir ist das alles irgendwie zu klein, aber es funktioniert.

Die App aus dem Store funktioniert ebenfalls, aber ich bin der Meinung dass diese etwas träge ist und beim schnellen klicken stürzt sich bei mir gerne ein.

Meine Alternative ist bisher das ganze im Webbrowser zu öffnen, jedoch passiert mir dort oft, dass ich den Tab schließe und die Musik aus ist.

Also Info: Egal welche Version ich installieren will, Ordner Plex/Media PLayer/* ist leer. Bei den älteren Setup´s kommt keine Restart-Meldung, dort wird nur versucht " Visual C++ Redistributable 2015" zu installieren, jedoch werden auch in diesem Setup keine Daten auf C: geschrieben.

Dann versuche doch mal das:
Deinstalliere die Visual C++ 2015 runtime (x64) mittels der Systemsteuerung.
(Nur die (x64) Variante! Die (x86) wird vom Server benutzt und darf nicht entfernt werden)

Danach versuche die Installation erneut.

Hab es nun mit und ohne Visual C++ 2015 runtime (x64) probiert. Immer die gleiche Meldung mit dem Restart.

Es werden einfach keine Daten auf die Festplatte geschrieben. Ich verstehe das nicht…

Kann man nicht vielleicht irgendwelche Reg´s löschen, so dass die Meldung nicht mehr kommt?

Oder alles irgendwie einmal komplett entfernen vom System?

Hast du mal sämtliche alten Versionen von PMP deinstalliert, bevor du versuchst die neue Version drauf zu machen?

Habe mal alles runtegeschmissen was ich gefunden habe von Plex. Neustart gemacht und Setup gestartet. Leider immer noch gleicher Fehler mit dem Restart :confused:

Ja, habe es von eurer Seite heruntergeladen (mehrfach). Die anderen Setups von Version :

PlexMediaPlayer-2.17.0.890-7d18e33d-windows-x64
PlexMediaPlayer-2.16.0.885-f2338b5e-windows-x64

funktionieren leider auch nicht, aber da kommt kein Restart-Fehler. Dort startet der Install und bleibt am Anfang kurz stehen, aber es werden keine Daten geschrieben. Dann springt es sofort zum Ende und installiert Visual C++ 2015 runtime (x64), was ja aber schon vorhanden ist. Ich bekomme die Meldung dass das Setup “Erfolgreich” ist. Wenn ich dann auf Launch gehe, passiert nix. Wenn unter C-programme-Plex-Plex Media Player nachschaue, sind dort keine Daten vorhanden.

Habe es gerade versucht wenn ich Windows Defender deaktiviere. Leider immer noch keine Besserung. Gibt es vielleicht eine Möglichkeit eine “installierte Version” von C direkt zu bekommen, so dass ich das da rein kopieren kann?

Im Moment fällt mir leider echt nichts ein was ich noch machen könnte.

Die Datei Plex.zip enthält meine aktuelle PMP-Installation auf Windows7 unter VMWare - leider noch die ältere PMP-Version PlexMediaPlayer-2.17.0.890-7d18e33d-windows-x64.
Installationsort bei mir C:\Program Files.

Also ich habe folgendes geladen:

MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab

Ausgeführt und über die Problembehandlung die kaputte Version von Plex deinstalliert.

dann hab ich Version 2.17 installiert und es hat tatsächlich funktioniert. Wenn ich nun 2.18 installieren will kommt wieder die Meldung mit dem Restart. Ich hoffe nur dass ich einfach 2.18 überspringen kann und zB 2.19 wieder normal funktioniert.

Hab es sicherheitshalber heruntergeladen falls es Probleme gibt, dann kann ich wenigstens die Daten überschrieben und das System hat irgendwas zum deinstallieren etc.

Nachtrag 2:

Nachdem starten von 2.17 kommt direkt eine Meldung dass eine neue Version verfügbar ist. Wenn ich auf jetzt installieren gehe, schließt sich Plex und nichts passiert, aber ich kann zum Glück Plex nochmal starten und er ruft ohne Fehler 2.17 wieder auf. Sehr seltsam, vielleicht gibt es wirklich bei manchen Probleme mit der neuen Version?
