When I received my Oculus Rift - DK2 - the first thing I thought of was having the ability to navigate and play my Plex Library in VR.
Luckily for me, there are people working on a webbrowser for VR (JanusVR) which enable you to build 3D worlds using HTML. So I created a 3d "world" using php and utilising the api + xml from Plex to generate the content. I can now watch my library easily in VR, including 3D SBS.
Janus also enables the ability to add music/sound, which can be useful when building a room for tv-shows (which could have theme music) - this is all a work-in-progress but you will get the idea.
See demo video on youtube. (not sure how i/if can embed)
thats more than nice. Will I be able to fix the view when watching movies? I assume this will be also working with other VR glasses? wish I had the money to buy these.
Yes, I am very interested as well. I just ordered my DK2 and am anxiously awaiting the ship date for it. I have been looking around at all the things that can be done with the DK2 and one of the things I thought would be really cool is the ability to watch movies, so landed at cineveo. I dont know if cineveo supports plex though, I dont think it does. I dont want to carry my plex server around the country with me, so this could be just the answer I am looking for. Please leave directions or finnished code for your project so we could use it for our own plex servers. I would even be willing to pay you for it providing a few things are included like the ability to lock the view. Thanks for any response.
