Plexamp and Plex Photos - better for me to delay for a while?

A couple of years back we used to view photos (and listen to music) stored upstairs on my desktop PC on our TV using the Plex app on a Firestick. Worked great until my PC misbehaved and I decided to uninstall Plex Server.

I have been considering replicating my photos and music on a dedicated (silent?) “mini PC” running W11 + Plex Server located by the TV.

Rather than using the Plex app on Firestick, any advantages in installing the Plex app on the mini PC and driving the TV via HDMI?

Just found out that Plex is “evolving”: Plexamp which is now available for Windows and Plex Photos not yet available.

Better to delay for a while and let things settle?

We have no guarantees on the timeline or on what we will actually get. Why not just install the apps we have today and enjoy them?

The best ETAs we’ve got are from the original announcement in Plex‘s Blog.

Transparency and Timeline

We believe in being transparent with our users throughout this transition, and we want to ensure you know exactly what to expect:
