Plexamp Apple Silicon Builds

The native Plexamp arm64 build (3.5.0) has been running wonderfully on my m1 Mac, however when 3.7.0 and now 3.7.1 has been released, my arm64 build of Plexamp has upgraded itself to the Intel version. Are there any arm64 builds of the latest Plexamp releases, or is there a way to prevent automatic updates?

Can not confirm this behaviour…
Plexamp 3.7.1 on my MacBook Pro M1 is still using arm64 binaries (check macOS activity monitor which tells you if a process is using Intel or Apple resources).

Fun fact: Plexamp for arm64 shows CarPlay settings on my MacBook (I assume the guys using the same binaries for the iOS App)

I believe you are using the ios version from the app store. It tends to consume a lot more battery on my m1 Mac.

If you look at the release notes for 3.5.0, you will see that they released a arm64 binary, this runs very well on m1 macs and consumes very little power.

Here is the link to it, the problem is that it was never updated to 3.7.1

That’s weird… I have Plexamp 3.7.1 arm64 on my MacBook - But when I download the 3.5.0 and letting the App doing the magic update in the background… It comes back with the Intel version.

So, I assume you are right - There is no 3.7.1 arm64 anymore :frowning:

The same happened with my update also.

Yeah, sorry guys, we need to figure out how to get the M1 electron build into the CI properly.

Thank you! Looking forward to this. I’ll be paying close attention to the upcoming release notes

Just got my 14" MBP with M1 Pro chip. Was disappointed to see the latest PlexAmp was not a universal app with native Apple Silicon support. Any ETA on when we can get native builds?

You can run the mobile app on there as well :grimacing:

Why not just compile an ARM version, when you could do it for v 3.5, you can do it for the newer versions as well  Even if we have to install manually, it’s still better.

For others if you wanna keep running 3.5 until a new ARM version comes, just remove write access to the Plexamp.app in applications and don’t allow the helper app when Plexamp starts, then it can’t auto update to the Intel version.

For the reasons I stated above, we haven’t gotten it integrated into our CI infrastructure yet.

Hi there, just chiming in to mention that I’m greatly looking forward to a Universal Binary version of Plexamp for macOS. Consider this my vote for its prioritization.

I think we finally cracked the code on this for the next release!
