I just downloaded and installed PlexAmp v1.1 (for Windows 10 Pro x64) and Artist Radio seems to have disappeared. I thought that was a great idea, why was it removed or am I missing something?
Which server have you selected as your media source?
Is it a genuine Plex server or Tidal?
If you look at the artist with the web app, does it have Related Artists listed at the bottom?
I have no interest in Tidal and am only using my own Plex server. The PMS is up-to-date except, perhaps for the single most recent update.
In the web app (and in PlexAmp) there are Similar Artists shown, which is, I think, what you are asking.
I am looking for the words āArtist Radioā on a button or maybe tooltip, but I cannot find it.
There is no tooltip. There is only this icon on the Artist preplay page
OK, thanks. Not sure what a āpreplay pageā is, but I havenāt seen that icon until an artist is actually playing. Thatās not a problem, just my observation.
Is there any way to get the timeouts set longer before the display (or right-click menu from the tray icon) go away? I am finding it difficult to do things because the menu vanishes before Iāve had a chance to use it and the āDiscoverā screens in PlexAmp revert to the song being played almost as fast as the menu vanishes.
Otherwise, it is finally working well on my system (it never worked before.)
You mean this menu?

it doesnāt go away.
It stays as long as I donāt click elsewhere.
The Artist preplay is the page which appears after you click on an artist name.

Yes. That menu goes away in a few seconds. Sometimes it only flashes onto the screen for a moment and before I even more the mouse it is gone. Other right-click menus do not behave the same way.
Now that I know where to activate the āartist radioā feature, Iāve been listening found about four hours.
I started with The Ramones and it is now playing Woody Guthrie.
That is unexpected, but I suppose there must be a twisted path of similarity that lead here. Or does it just add some randomness from time to time?
āArtist Radioā doesnāt mean it is only playing music by that artist. Instead you get a playlist of music from this artist and from artists which are similar to this artist. And from time to time it returns to the original artist.
If you only want music by that particular artist, simply press Play or Shuffle.
I donāt know this behaviour. Are you using a mouse or a touch screen?
Do you have other input controllers connected, like a joystick/gamepad or a touch pad?
[artist radio] Thatās exactly what I thought it was doing and why I was surprised it found a connection between the Ramones and Woody Guthrie, who could hardly be more different.
[menu] I have an IBM keyboard and a Microsoft optical mouse for input devices. Nothing else. Sometimes it takes seven or eight attempts to change the visualizer setting, for example. Luckily, I donāt need to use that menu much.
It doesnāt need to be a direct connection. As the playlist plays longer, there are sometimes 2, 3, 4 or even more āintermediaryā artists involved.
I have no idea, what could be the issue here. Perhaps some other software stealing the focus (or the media player keys)?
My keyboard is a refurbished IBM Model M (IMHO, the last GOOD keyboard made
.) It has no media player keys (not even any āwindowsā keys), just the original 104 keyboard. It is possible something is stealing the focus, but not sure why that would only affect PlexAmp as it does not seem like any other tray app menus are affected.
Regardless, Iām happy and donāt need to continue bothering you.
Thanks for your answers and help finding the artist radio button.
If thereās any way you want me to help diagnose the menu issue, Iām willing to help. Otherwise, Iām thankful for your assistance and finished with this line of questions.
Iām using Plexamp on Mac right now and I canāt see disc number, or any sort of separation between discs on albums that span multiple discs. Is this intended? Do you plan on giving us visual or numeric disc separation indication?
On my Windows 10 PC there are neither playing controls nor the cover art:
Music is playing, and the other functions are working.
Use the ācompatibility settingsā (right click on the app icon) and experiment a bit (particularly with the āscalingā settings).
Another thing to try is to empty out the app settings folder (requires a new login to the plex account afterwards).
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Plexamp
@OttoKerner: thank you much for your answer! I canāt find either ācompatibilityā nor scaling:

This works for me. Thank you!
I meant not on the tray bar icon, but on the actual app icon which you are using to start the app.
Iāve noticed a couple of bugs in PlexAmp latest running on Fedora 30.
For one, searching for a song title only yields 3 results, even if you have say 50 versions of that track in your library (in the case of the Grateful Dead, the search bar is not the best way to look for specific tracks).
Also, from the ātrack selectionā screen from an album being played, you can select songs below the current playing track to skip to, but not songs above that track. What gives?
Is there a more āofficialā bug tracker for PlexAmp? Is Plex considering open sourcing PlexAmp? I would really like to contribute however I can.
I cannot get Artist Radio to play on my Windows 10 PC.
Artist Radio playback works on the web app connect to the same media server, though.
