Known issue, we’re not entirely sure why the scaling factor gets all out of whack.
Hi @elan, I started a thread elsewhere about an issue that I have been experiencing with stuttering playback of lossless audio. It turns out that many others are experiencing the same thing me. Do you have any ideas what could be wrong?
You did drop a note there at some point but haven’t heard anything since. Hoping you can advise.
Thanks in advance!
Marco.
I’m experiencing stuttering audio after a period of 5 to 10 minutes of clean audio. A stop/restart of the audio stream seems to get things right for a while.
Running on MacOS, High Sierra. What can I send to help diagnose?
@marcosus ~ No known issues, and there are plenty of people who don’t see the problem (including myself), so it’s an annoying one to get to the bottom of. The more data points the better (e.g. remote/local, bandwidth, whether restarting the app fixes, etc.)
I’m getting the stuttering issue too. I usually have to close the whole program and re-open and its fine. It tends to happen after playing for a little while but not always. It will eventually start to stutter if left on long enough.
I’m running Plexamp on my work PC (Windows 10) hard wired internet and my Plex server (latest version) is at home (Server 2016 dedicated rack server). I have 100/10 Mbps at home with no bandwidth being used at home during the day (checked using Unifi controller) and we have 30/30 at work. Yes I have to completely close the app and re-open it to fix. I have tried to pause and play and it doesn’t always start playing right away or wont play at all until I close. I have also installed Tautulli to monitor the Plex server performance (AMAZING!).
Let me know what I can provide to troubleshoot, I work as an IT admin.
I am having issues getting Plexamp to play artist radio on MacOS. Is there something I’m missing? I can see the radio icon next to the artist, but when I click on it. It’s blank. Nothing starts.
Feature Request/Bug
On OSX, when the main window is in the background, it is not easy to get it back in the foreground:
- Cmd+tab doesnt work (App is not in the list)
- Clicking on the icon in the menu bar doesnt work
The only way I found:
- Exposé
- hide/minimise all other apps
But these two options are more complicated in my opinion. Please add the window to the Cmd+Tab-list since I use this all the time for everything.
Otherwise great program! Although the window in indeed very small, even in the biggest possible size option.
Can you please make the app bigger? Even Roos size is too small. Roo is more like a medium. Is there anyway to change the font size in the config.json?
The scroll bar for scrolling through track lists does not seem to work on Windows 7 SP1?
Linux Ubuntu 16.04 running version 1.0.5 - Playing will sometimes suddenly stop. Can’t get it to restart even restarting the app. The screen just kinda shows nothing, though I can query my library fine. After several hours it might start working again. Not sure what triggers it. Where is what I see in the Application.log:
Jun 07, 2018 14:25:56.129 ERROR - PLAYER: Error issuing request to player Local: /player/timeline/poll?wait=0&includeMetadata=1&commandID=6613&type=audio connect ECONNREFUSED 127.0.0.1:36000

If I kill the mpd process, then the UI comes back. But it fails when I try to play something. Then the next restart of the app I end up with the above screen again. Let me know what logs would be useful.
Media keys have stopped working on Window 10. I fixed the issue by deleting AppData/local/PlexAmp however, this only worked until a restart and no longer has any effect. Persists across two keyboards, both work on MacOS.
Also, one size larger would be nice, Roo is just a bit to small on large screens.
Hi! Thanks for making PlexAmp, I replaced Spotify with Plex just because of it.
I have only two issues that bother me:
- Artist’s radio has only 3 tracks in a playlist. After third track finishes, playback stops.
- Crossfade - ah how I wish I could disable it, please add a switch.

2. Crossfade - ah how I wish I could disable it, please add a switch.
Take a look at the release notes (v1.01) for how to disable crossfade: http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/303432/plexamp-release-notes
I’d prefer a simple switch as well.
first of all, Plexamp is freaking awesome. takes me back to the days when mp3s started being popular and I would sit on the computer and listen to music with everything.
for a feature request, any possibility of volume control within Plexamp.
Maybe also be able to simply shuffle all music.
I haven’t experienced any bugs as of yet on OSx client running from Linux Server.
Try CMD+Alt+Up/Down
Workaround:
- in the web app go into your music library. Disable any filters which may be active, so you are seeing all artists/albums/tracks
- click on ‘Add to Playlist’ without selecting any items first
- name your playlist ‘All Music’ or something like that
The result is a ‘smart playlist’, which updates itself as you add to or remove music from your library. It will be available within Plexamp, where it can be either played straight or shuffled.
The player plays one or two tracks, then it starts to judder and never recovers. It’s un-usable for me.
Win10 Connected via internet to plex server (up to date) running official docker image. Internet connection is very fast. Server is more than capable of transcoding several video streams concurrently.
Similarly here, it chokes and stops. I must kill it and restart it to resume.
Unable to make that sexy player work . The version is the 1.0.5 and i’m under Ubuntu 18.04 LTS .
The window is frozen and cant be moved to any part of the screen. I can click only on discovery (where the lens is) and write smthg but doesnt give me any result at all.
The log from the terminal :

Any idea how i can fix it ? Thanx !
EDITED: Got it to work installing GNOME Shell extension TopIcons Plus but i still run on some issues. I can find the music server but when i’m clicking on an album, the application screen is reseted to a black window and there is no music reproduction at all. Try to play something from a radio too but nothing. It doesn’t do anything at all. Anyway i’m a step further from before so

2nd Edit: Problem now solved magically on its own. The only thing that changed is an updated version of Install: linux-headers-4.15.0-24:amd64 (4.15.0-24.26, automatic), linux-headers-4.15.0-24-generic:amd64 (4.15.0-24.26, automatic), linux-modules-extra-4.15.0-24-generic:amd64 (4.15.0-24.26, automatic), linux-modules-4.15.0-24-generic:amd64 (4.15.0-24.26, automatic), linux-image-4.15.0-24-generic:amd64 (4.15.0-24.26, automatic) . That’t the only change on my system so i presume it had to do smthg with that. Tried multiple times before the update but nada. All good now !Cheers !
I know this isn’t very likely to happen, but a “skip album” button would be fantastic. Perhaps it could be a shift-click on the next button.
Sometimes I like to plexcast from the web ui to my plexamp so I can set up a playlist in the webui, then control it with keyboard shortcuts in games. When I skip forward a track, or a track finishes, sometimes the web ui gets out of sync with the client. The web ui will think I’m still playing the track that just finished, but plexamp will continue on to the next. I’ve experienced this on 2 windows machines and my linux laptop.
