I’m happy to provide logs or whatever data is needed to fix whatever is wrong. Just tell me what is needed. As stated after my server completed the sonic analysis of my music library I can no longer listen to it with plexamp. My server immediately crashes as soon as someone tries to use plexamp. I can’t even see if any of the new features are available because it wont play music. I’m super bummed because I have to listen to spotify instead of my own library. Please someone tell me how to fix my problem.
Best bet is to post server logs after the crash, because there aren’t any known issues which would cause what you’re observing.

Hope this sheds some light. I’ll admit this is getting to the edge of my technical expertise. Thank you in advance for the help.
Fascinating. Can you try something for me?
Find your Plex app support directory. You’re looking for the directory ending in Plug-in Support/Databases. In this directory, you’ll see one or more folders called “Music Analysis XXXX”.
- Quit the media server.
- Delete the folders.
- Restart the server.
This will stop the server from crashing. However, you’ll want to rebuild the indexes and see if somehow they were corrupted; you can do this by scanning your music library if you have sonic analysis enabled when adding new media (as opposed to a scheduled task).
Thank you so much Elan! I found and deleted the folders. Now my server is back to normal with no crashes. If it is interesting to you, there were two folders. Music Analysis 6 and Music Analysis 6 (processing). I am going to start the sonic analysis again this evening and if you like I would be happy to reply back to this thread to give an update. My music library is only 700 albums and I have a newer i5 CPU and a decent GPU in my server so hopefully analysis only takes a few days.
I appreciate the support and think plexamp is outstanding! It gets better with each update and has motivated me to further build my music library instead of relying on spotify to stream.
Sonic analysis completed the second time around, server working flawlessly. Great stuff keep up the good work!
Great to hear! I’m guessing for some reason the file ended up corrupted, which I wish I knew the cause of, but glad it ended well. Hope you enjoy Super Sonic!
Hi - so my server took almost 14 days to do the processing on my library. After about day 11, the server started acting like it only had 128Kbps of bandwidth. Remote desktop access didn’t work right and, while I could still see the analysis countdown on the web, I couldn’t actually stream any media from the server. Other VMs on the same server also became inaccessible.
During this time period, the sonic analysis did complete successfully, but Plex never started acting properly, even after restarting it. Rebooting the entire server cleared it all up, but I was wondering if you have seen any similar issues with long-running sonic analysis?
Not that I’m aware of. Weird that you’d need to reboot the entire server, but if all’s working now, that’s good
Actually - I spoke too soon. Apparently it has been stuck with 45 albums remaining. That was the last number I saw the day before I rebooted, and after running a while again today it picked back up at 45 again and is now still stuck there. No other issues that I can see.
How much CPU is being used? If half your CPUs, likely working on a big album. If 100% of one core, possibly stuck decoding a corrupt file. Zero CPU? Probably ran into an corrupt bit of database state. Server logs would likely tell the tale.
Welp, 14 hours later it somehow got past those 45. I’ve added four more albums since, and each one has been analyzed on the fly as designed. So… I will keep an eye on it but I think we are all good!
OK - so the 45 albums keep coming back. I’ve dug into the logs, and it looks this is the error on most or all of them:
Sep 06, 2021 14:32:41.125 [8608] WARN - [MusicAnalysis] Analysis had wrong number of dimensions (1) for track 587855, skipping.
Do you think this is repairable? Or should I delete and re-rip those albums?
That implies there’s an issue analyzing those albums. Without full logs, impossible to say. Maybe your temp filesystem is filling up?
My temp/transcoding drive is a dedicated SSD with tons of room.
Should I open a support ticket to send over the full logs?
Post them in here.

Sorry, nothing obvious in there. If you can reproduce in a separate library with one of those albums, please upload it somewhere and we’ll see if we can reproduce.
I’m having the same issue. But its on a Mac Server. @elan where is the Plug-In Support/Database on a Mac? So I can try your solution.
Once sonic analysis is done. If I try to play a song from Plexamp or even from web browser my Plex server crashes.
