I just set up PlexAmp last week on my Nvidia Shield Plex server, and got it working over Tailscale to my phone and Android Auto in my car (2017 Accord). I enjoyed listening to my music library for hours on road trip.
I had two occasions where PlexAmp failed: Once, when a phone call came in, PlexAmp stopped playing and after I hung up I could not get it to resume again. The “play” button on the interface turned into a square icon, and touching it did nothing.
Another time an appointment reminder alerted on my phone and I had to silence it. PlexAmp stopped playing and I could not get it going again no matter what I tried.
I can’t remember which was which, but on one of the occasions I got an actual “PlexAmp has crashed” error. On the other occasion I had to reboot my phone to get PlexAmp going again. I tried restarting my car as well.
I’ve never had issues like this when streaming from Amazon Music or Spotify in AA. It was unusual in that both occasions were when my phone had to interrupt the playback temporarily. On those other streaming services the music resumes playing after I’ve addressed the interruption. PlexAmp couldn’t seem to handle them.
I’ve only been using PlexAmp for less than a week, so maybe these are just flukes. But they both happened during the same drive (right after I bragged to my wife how great technology is!) Ha ha.
I hope this information is helpful to the developers and other users, and look forward to any responses that might help.
