Plexamp does not have generated loudness data

Hey there guys,

my Plex Docker server (On the latest Beta version) has generated loudness data and track indexes for the past 20-ish hours. There were ~8800 albums where metadata has been generated for.

However, in Plexamp no track has this data. There’s no loudness data available in my Plexamp and I wonder why.

I rescanned my music library, I’ve tried to start a metadata refresh for the library several times. Still the problem remains. I also re-installed Plexamp twice, no dice.

If anybody has a hint for me would be great

Have a great day boys and girls

All my tracks look like this:

EDIT: Okay, I’ve double-checked. Seems like some artists/tracks do have the loudness data, while others don’t

It takes time, often several days if you’ve just added 8800 albums.

But it has already finished the task, twice now

Look for albums with a ridiculous amount of tracks, like e.g. box sets with several dozens of discs.

Take these out for a few days, then see if there’s progress with the analysis.
But yeah, analyzing over 8000 albums will definitely take a while.

I’m afraid this seems to be a bit of a too large task for this amount of albums

As I said, the entire task for all albums was finished this morning. I saw it starting for ~8800 albums yesterday noon, verified it’s still “doing its thing” (The numbers for to be analysed albums shrank) and early this morning I made some coffee and saw the last 100 albums finish to the very last album.

So I’m very well aware it takes some time, but as I said it finished already, twice now :man_shrugging:

EDIT: I started the analysis for the entire library several times as well, scanned the library several times as well, started analysis as per artist for the albums without loudness data, but nothing changes

Doesn’t loudness data only run during maintenance?

No, I don’t think so :see_no_evil: And probably Otto would’ve let me know if this was the case

Check your setting. I think the default is “as a scheduled task”, so I think loudness will only run during maintenance in this case. It may “finish” doing loudness twice, but I think because the maintenance window ended.

I appreciate your effort and trials in helping me, but for the love of god, please, if you wanna help read my previous messages at least. An unchecked tick or option in the library settings is definitely not the root cause of my problem

Fine. I did read all this subject, and felt like it might have been an overlooked setting.

Sorry for coming off rude. I see your intention and as I said I appreciate it. Maybe you’re not that wrong with’em either and the data will be generated during tonights’ scheduled maintenance. Even though I had them running for a few hours already, but maybe the maintenance just didn’t ‘reach’ the albums in question?

I have no idea. Will report if anything changes

I got ya fine. I was planning to back out if my hunch was incorrect, which it was. Re-reading your posts, I did seem to have an incorrect idea that you had been running these tasks for multiple days (my thought on you saying you ran loudness twice was that you let it run for two days). Even if my hunch was true, it is very bizarre that you’d already have SOME loudness data.

You must have gotten some loudness to run manually, which I do not know how to do. If it’s at all like TV Shows and running credit skip, it likely takes selecting files on a “song” level - not on the album itself - in order to do some levels. But I’m just speculating wildly here.

I guess I have a case of “well, it worked for ME”. I’ve got Plex in a docker, and last time I checked all my songs had loudness data (in Plexamp), but - oh man - it was so long ago that I set it up, I couldn’t tell you if it’s still working on the latest build.

Anywho, I would suggest you just let it go for some while (overnight?). It’s possible it’s still processing loudness data, even if it isn’t visually indicating that. Sorry for the interruption ya’all!

Yeah, maybe I didn’t bring across my points clear enough as well. And indeed, that is the weird thing, that a lot of albums/tracks do have loudness data, while a few others just do not - even after having run all the tasks necessary.

And I thought the exact same thing (which I have posted earlier as well), which is to manually start analysis as per album or artist, but it just doesn’t do anything. To my understanding this would be the exact way on how to start the loudness generation manually, but still no dice.

And - another time - thought the same thing to just wait it out and see again after tonight’s tasks  :beers:

Will report if the albums in question do have loudness data tomorrow. Have a great night or day, I’m off to bed

Solved by just waiting for a long scheduled maintance. Loudness analysis was generated succesfully for the missing albums during Plex’s “Night shift”
