Plexamp feature request: Create Smart Playlist from various screens

I’ve seen quite a few posts from people that can’t find how to create a new Smart Playlist in Plexamp (I’m on Plexamp for macOS). I think adding the following might help.

  • An ‘add (smart) playlist’ button in the Playlists overview. This could have the same square form as a playlist (in icon view anyway) but just be a translucent square with a plus in it. If you click it you get the option to create an empty regular playlist or a smart (filtered) playlist. Subsequently you are moved to the filter overview if you choose ‘smart’.

  • Be able to start creating smart playlists from the Search page. You could search for a artist/album/track/year and choose to add more criteria (rules and groups) by clicking a ‘start smart playlist’ button. I’m not sure how to implement this nicely I must admit. Maybe a plus icon in the search bar that brings you to a filter creator with the search already entered as a first rule.

Curious to hear what others think of this and what ideas there live more around smart playlists.

Very much agree with this. It would give much more exposure to the feature.

I’ve noticed that most people don’t know about smart playlists in Plex in general. Can’t really blame them tbh.
