(Plexamp feature requests) Features for the not so tech savvy

Hoping to add additional sort options to all library categories. I.e being able to sort by Artist or Album when in the tracks category.

I’d also love to be able to see all tracks by each artist instead of only albums, EPs and singles.

Lastly adding a features similar to other music streaming apps, a “station based on” and “auto playlists” based on music you listen to.

Loving the app so far! It’s just not so easy to use for less tech savvy family members.

In order to clarify your suggestion(s):

Do you want an option to show all releases in one group instead of having them split up in albums, EPs, singles etc.?
If so… you can already do that with the server settings, setting Settings > [Server Name] > Library > Group albums by type to disabled.

If you want to see tracks of that artist in somebody else’s album or a various artist compilation… check out the Appears on... hub on the artist page. This does however not show a flat list of tracks where this artist is listed as (track) artist.

Plexamp is full of those stations. Have you already looked at the Stations section on the Plexamp home screen?

  • Library Radio, Time Travel Radio and Random Album Radio are 100% automated
  • Style Radio, Mood Radio, Decade Radio will be created for you based on what style, mood or decade you pick
  • Artist Mix Builder and Album Mix Builder let you pick artists/albums and will build a mix based on those
  • Sonic Adventure lets you set some waypoints and will fill the “gaps” with a sonically similar set of tracks.

In addition, there’s the Mixes for You section with mixes based on music you’ve been listening to and songs you like.

All those will produce best results if you let Plex do a sonic analysis of your library. Some of the stations/mixes will only be available if that analysis has been completed.
