Plexamp MacOS and iOS - Freezing on particular tracks

Hi - great app, and personally would consider crowdfunding its development to see certain features added.

On MacOS (latest), Plexamp freezes playing particular tracks - always the same ones. The pause button just swirls and the only way to recover is to force quit via the dock - command-q doesn’t work - and then reload + press skip track. This happens once per hour or so if I’m listening continuously so enough to be annoying solo and be unusable if listening socially. Same swirl happens on iOS but I can just press next instead of quitting. VLC plays the tracks fine.

Files are mgpa, nothing obviously different to others.

Please let me know if I am able to send debug logs (or the offending mp3s) to the devs - not clear how. This has happened since I’ve been using Plexamp (probably 4 months or so).

Thank you.

MGPA?

If it’s reproducible with a specific MP3, please do share. Is it reproducible on mobile as well, or only desktop? [edit: you answered this second question]

MGPA = MPGA - mpeg audio (typo).

Here is an mp3 example that I found on the web (apologies in advance if it contradicts any copyright laws - sent in the name of testing only): https://we.tl/t-oBFsV7P9xq.

Streaming from a Plex media server on Synology NAS. I suspect it could be a codec issue and not Plexamp’s fault but VLC and Apple Music both play it and the others fine.

Hi, just checking if this was received ok and whether you managed to reproduce the problem.

As an interim ‘solution’, I’ve just deleted all the albums that this bug is affected by.

Thanks.

I’m so sorry, somehow this slipped through the cracks. If you’re still running into the issue, can you upload another track which reproduces? Also, make sure it plays on the main Plex app just to ensure it’s a Plexamp issue and not a server/codec issue.
