I’m having a super annoying issue since the last Android update (not plexamp update as far as I can tell):
I’m heavily using plexamp with android auto (via smartphone), selecting “all music” on random. When pressing the Queue button it now doesn’t scroll anymore to the current playing track, but rather always shows the very top. This is annoying because after listening to 30+ tracks it’s already nearly impossible to scroll down (while driving).
Also the UX of the list has changed:
Before a simple swipe would scroll exactly one page - now it’s fluent, making it impossible to scroll further while driving without needing to look
So here is a funny thing. I’ve uninstalled all android auto updates (as I wanted to restore the old behavior) but google requires the update to connect. So I effectively re-installed the exact same version (yes, I’ve checked) and now it looks different.
There is now a scrollbar on the left and most of the time (~60%) it actually scrolls to the song currently playing. In the other 40% it shows either a list with just 2 random songs or the next 10 songs of the list but I can’t scroll back up.
So it’s now not consistent broken but rather a random dice roll what you get.
From the other thread I understand that plex can’t influence the UI at all, so this is on google I guess…
I’m having the same sort of issues as you describe. For me there are 2 separate issues but maybe they are casued by the same bug?
The first issue is the queue doesn’t centre on the song playing and the other issue is I’ve lost the scroll up down buttons in two places.
The lastest version of Android Auto on my device was 13.9.651014, I rolled it back to 13.4.645064 and the scroll buttons are back but the queue still doesn’t centre on the currently playing track.
I’m going to roll back to an old version of Andoid auto and try again. What’s interesting is the interface behaves differently on different head units. I recently hired a Mazda CX3 and on that Android auto interface everything worked as it should. I’ve read on the Android auto support groups there are known bugs affecting streaming apps and scrolling.
When I plugged the phone back in today Android auto had dropped the up down navigation buttons again. I cleared Android autos cache and strorage and tried again with success this time. Queue now brings playing song to the top and the up down buttons are there. Details Pixel Pro 7, Android 15, Android auto 13.4.645064, Plexamp 4.11.5, 2020 Hyundai i30 head unit. Even though it’s working just how I like it I’m afraid Android auto will break it again. Time will tell.
I tried all versions you’ve listed and for me nothing ever changes. I really don’t get it. Android Auto lists the correct version, and before installing the APK I’ve uninstalled all updates.
Only time something changes if I uninstall all updates and connect (in which case I get an error that I must update) and it behaves really strange afterwards.
After settling on Android auto version 13.4.645064 (only because it was the last update before Feb 2025) I still had to clear the cache and storage to get it to work, have you tried that? The thing I noticed also is it behaves differently between head units. I get a different result between a Kia Rio, a Hyundai i30 and Mazda CX-3.
Yep, after doing that I get the up/down buttons back. But it still doesn’t scroll to the currently playing track. Interestingly I get a notification that “android Auto will soon require an update to continue working”
Yep, same thing happens for me. Voice search is also still broken, guess that might be due to the Android version itself. Super annoyed about Android Auto at this point, it worked so nicely all those years.
