I posted this in the Future of Plexamp thread a little before it got (understandably) closed, so I’m posting it again in the hopes that I might be able to get a more definitive answer.
So I’m playing a file that is 192/24 for testing with Strict Sample Matching on and maximum quality settings. It isn’t stuttering or anything, so that’s good. However, I’m wondering if it’s playing at the full quality or not and I’m not sure how to tell.
On my laptop’s plexamp, which I am using to control it, I see this:
![]()
However, when I go to the settings on the Pi using the web browser, I see this:

Is it converting the file for output or am I getting the full quality file?
I’ve tried changing the output and it always says the 44.1 kHz/2 channels thing regardless of which audio output I select.
I’m using one of the USB 3 slots, and the converter I have is supposed to support high bitrate stuff: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VSFBT82
Future of Plexamp on Raspberry Pi? - #236 by tpavey here suggests that it might just be a UI issue, as they can hear something change in their external DAC when the sample rate changes. They don’t say if they’re using USB though.
