Hi there - I have plex install on my synology NAS and mainly use for films and TV, and occassionally I use for music. Generally this is easy as I only play on my PC whilst working. However can I install plex to run on a raspberry pi 4, not the server, but as a streamer/endpoint? Ideally then I would control plex on a tablet/phone, but play from the pi (which would be linked to my main stereo DAC).
This is how I use Roon, but keen to try plex in a similar way.
Thanks @OttoKerner I will have a read of those links.
I am familiar with ropieee and have used in the past with roon with a number of raspberry pi’s across the house. Currently I have raspberry pi OS installed on the same raspberry pi’s with Roon raat, but wanted to give plex a go!
Ropieee XL has the headless plexamp client integrated. All you need to do is to activate it. That way you can keep all the other functionality of the Pi that it currently has.
Thanks @OttoKerner , I have it all working. I have put ropieee back onto that rpi, and added plex amp. I also have it installed on my tablet and Fedora based desktop. So pretty successful really. I just need to use it for a bit now and get used to it. Thanks for your help!
I have been doing a bit of reading around @OttoKerner
Most, if not all, of my listening will be at home over wired ethernet. If I was looking for the best possible quality, would these settings be correct?
strict sample rate matching enabled
Loudness leveling OFF
limiter OFF
preamp 0dB
EQ OFF
Volume to 100%
Are these correct? Have I missed anything?
For info I have ropieee force USB volume and set to 100%. The Rpi then feeds my Topping D90 DAC via USB. I then have a Topping pre90 as a dedicated preamplifier.
yes, those settings should work for you … note that strict sample rate matching can sometimes prevent sweet fades from working (when next track in a playlist is a different sample rate vs current track) … other than that, you should be good
