I’ve seen this suggestion many times and the development was promised many times. Please make it happen. Maybe it is barely noticeable between 16/44.1 and 24/96. But with proper equipment, 24/96 deliver more than 16/44.1 I want to enjoy my hi-res music library.

I never had a problem doing hi-res on Plexamp Desktop (macOS). There is the recent addition of “exclusive” mode on MacOS Plexamp which has been good. So far, I have everything upsampled, but theoretically they are working on a “tracking” bitrate functionality, so it should output exactly as the file…

There are a few albums which will be releases on SACD which should offer HiRes audio. In addition there’s a few providers offering HiRes streaming and purchases (e.g. Qobuz)… last I checked, bandcamp also offered some HiRes audio. That being said… it’s rarely your everyday mainstream charts in tho…

I didn’t know the ‘exclusive mode’. But as I’ve tested it, there’s some problem. I don’t want upsampling. So, it’d be nice if plexamp for macOS can change output settings automatically like roon, audirvana, etc.

There’re some places you can buy hi-res music. As @tom80H mentioned, Qobuz is good for classical music. I personally bought some music from e-onkyo.com . I’m not sure it’s available for you.

Btw, I usually use plexamp on my iphone. And plexamp for ios doesn’t have an option for hi-res.

@elan said they were working on tracking the sample rate changes to avoid upsampling in a previous post. Ah, for iOS, Plexamp does downsample everything to 16/44.1 it seems. Rather unfortunate when used with higher end USB DAC’s.

I have a DragonFly in house at the moment, so hopefully will be able to look into that.

My cats love it when a dragonfly gets in the house.

There’s already an existing suggestion asking for Plexamp to (better) support Hi-Res music (24/96) – while that thread is in the context of a specific RPI configuration, the underlying request is the same. I suggest you comment/vote in that thread instead to avoid distracting/dispersing votes… unless you feel this is a completely different suggestion.
