Plexamp tracks folder fails to populate

All folders populate reasonably fast but “Tracks” remains blank no matter how long I wait.

More of an annoyance, nevertheless worth reporting imho.

Plexamp 4.6.2
macOS Ventura 13.3.1
PMS 1.31.3.6868
Debian 11 SMP PVE 5.15.102-1 x86_64 / Proxmox 7.4-3

Do you get a track count in Plex Web?

That is WAY larger a library than we recommend, you’re going to run into performance issues almost certainly, and taking over 10-20 seconds to compute the number of tracks (and likely timing out the Plexamp request) is going to likely be the least of your concerns

That amount of music will take you about 20 years to listen to, and probably cost you about $1.7M to purchase. I know we’re all a bunch of media hoarders, but this takes it to the next level :joy:

WebUI produces error (logs attached) “Something went wrong - An unexpected error occurred.”

@elan agree it is a substantial library but not even 1 100th of commercial repositories so I a guess I didn’t expect issues at this level rather it being a bug. The other stats actually populate reasonably fast.

You must have on the order of ~2 million tracks. TIDAL has 80 million, so you’re at 2.5% of that commercial repository

The Web UI and Plexamp are both timing out; If you really want to host that much media, a) get a really fast CPU and b) blazingly fast SSD and c) make sure the database is optimized. Given how big the database must be, it’s somewhat possible the optimization is failing for some reason.

If its a timeout based on insufficient resourced for PMS than yeah thats for me to fix, just seemed strange the other items populated reasonably fast.
Perhaps the timeout could be extended but I am sure that will have flow on effects.
thanks again to you both anyway.

It’s because you have 10x more tracks than any of the other things

If you’re hitting the timeout, which is 30 seconds by default, that’s not a reasonable amount of time to have to wait for data in an interactive application.

Please check the other recommendations including database optimization.

OK, I’ll hope for it to resolve it self when I upgrade the hardware down the track. Optimisation is a good pointer but it doesn’t solve this issue, I have it enabled on scheduled tasks + run it manually if I log in to desktop app which is every second day or so.

just look at the logs and make sure it succeeded.

looks good:
