Have had this happen several times lately where I’ll have a playlist playing in shuffle mode with Plexamp for iOS, and when I reopen Plexamp later on, it will no longer be in shuffle mode. This is new behavior as I’ve never had this happen before and could rely on Plexamp to remain in shuffle mode.
I did not force quit the app or reboot my phone in between.
a log would tell the stale, but are you connecting to any bluetooth devices or car head unites? we’ve recently started listening for shuffle and repeat commands from remote controls and some devices send them.
No bluetooth devices, nor am i using Carplay. However, I have connected my phone to my car stereo (Microsoft Ford Sync gen. 1) to hear audio from a Twitch stream.
This afternoon I did notice via the web app that Plex was downloading some media to a device (wasn’t specified which one, only the username was given, which would be the same across all of my devices). Turns out that the song that I noticed was being downloaded turns out to be the next up in the queue on my phone and shuffle has again been turned off.

would need plexamp log to determine if something is sending the command. almost certainly it’s your head unit.

i’m sorry, i can’t see anything obvious on my ipad, so it will have to wait until i’m done traveling in a few weeks.
perhaps in the meantime we can get more details and others can chime in.
something interesting i just noticed is that shuffle turned off when i unplugged my phone in the car. the ignition and radio were off. as soon as i unplugged, shuffle turned off.

My “History” (not “recent plays”) in Plexamp for MacOS does not match what was played in Plexamp for iOS.
example 1: Plexamp on iOS unmistakably played the 9 minute album version of Zapp “More Bounce To The Ounce” but “History” in Plexamp on MacOS shows that my rip of the considerably shorter 7" version, listed as “More Bounce To The Ounce (Part 1)” was played instead.
example 2: Plexamp on iOS played Prince’s “Moonbeam Levels” but on MacOS it shows that “DMSR” from the same release was played instead.
example 3: Plexamp on MacOS played Jahneen “Gigolette” from the Supafunkanova compilation, but “History” on Plexamp for MacOS shows a different track from that same compilation. However, the correct track shows in “Recent Plays.”
In all three examples the correct track was scrobbled to Last.FM.
