I’m having an issue I’d love to get resolved as it requires me to constantly be going down to my server PC and restarting plexconnect and PMS. So I have everything up and running, and it’s all working great. The problem arises when the PC goes into sleep mode. When it comes out, connection from the ATV to plexconnect does not function. I can see 4 or 5 instances of python.exe *32 running, but it does not allow connection. It seems like after a certain period of time it stops serving, but not sure what is really failing. I’m on Win 7 64-bit. Any ideas on what I can start looking for? Why would it not work coming out of sleep? The icing on the cake would be to get my wake on LAN working, to kick on the PC when I turn on the ATV, but can’t seem to get that set up either (been working in the bios, with the properties of the LAN card, etc).
Yeah, that’s just it, I still want it to sleep as I’m away from the house all day at work and really no need for the fans to be running all day long when it has absolutely no reason to do so. Not so much concerned about the $$ for the power to run it, more things wearing out when they don’t need to.
But, even if I get WOL working, I still have the issue that whenever the PC comes out of sleep mode, plexconnect does not work. I get on my ATV, and nothing is connected. I have to go into settings and change it back to auto DNS and connect out through the ‘normal’ web. I keep thinking that other people have to have had this issue!!!?? I’ve tried a bunch of things and cannot get a connection to my plex server, through plexconnect, no matter what I do, after the PC has gone to sleep and is awoken. Would it have anything to do with my other need of having to start PMS BEFORE starting plexconnect, or is this standard practice? If I started plexconnect before PMS the ATV will also not connect. Any ideas for anything I can try to keep a connection when the computer wakes up would be greatly appreciated.
That’s the thing, there’s no connection to my PC from the atv after the PC comes out of sleep mode. Nothing works, youtube, Trailers, or any other app that needs a connection to the internet. I know that connection comes through the PC, and the PC is awake and functional. But nothing works until I go to the PC (after waking it) and close and restart plex media server, and plexconnect. I don’t see this being listed as a bug and couldn’t find much of any information online or in this forum so I’m thinking that a very few amount of people have this issue. I’d be fine with the baked in plex player on my Samsung smart tv if it weren’t for the fact that the interface is so unbelievably bad. I can even navigate that interface on the tv, so had to resort to plexconnect on the atv. But if I can’t get it to function after waking the PC it’s getting to be too much of a hassle to go down to the basement (where the PC is) and restart both services/apps. Not great.
