Just installed PMS and now planning to install PlexConnect to access Plex on atv2. One issue I need to consider is that my atv2 is currently accessing a manual DNS provided by tunlr.net to enable access to US Netflix. Obviously I hope to keep my access to US Netflix so I'm wondering if I reset the DNS on my PC (which hosts PMS) to that provided by Tunlr will this cause problems. Both the PC and atv2 DNS would then be the same.
Please advise any likely problems on any of the PlexConnect / atv / PC sides and / or better solutions. Warning - I'm not a techie! Thanks in advance.
This looks like a DNS service so you will need to edit the DNSmaster setting in the Setting.cfg file of Plexconnect to match the DNS that Tunlr provides. I use a similar service and this method works.

Thanks for this. Please advise where that setting.cfg file will be located on Windows Vista? Has this caused you any issues with other PC / OS apps, eg, Spotify, etc?
The file will be in the Plexconnect template folder. Not sure what you mean by “this”. Plexconnect in general or using a DNS service? I suggest trying it out and seeing what happens, it shouldn’t cause any issues on your computer.
Just fix the DNS Master Settings in the plexconnect folder on your PC, basically rest is like before, but you must keep your pc running in ordner to access any media on your ATV
I've changed the DNS on the PC internet network to match the atv and tunlr DNS. I've downloaded Python 2.7.5 and the Plex-Connect-XML_templates folder - now sitting in my downloads folder. I've double clicked the plexconnect.py file. Is this supposed to create a plexconnect folder somewhere? I can't see one and I can't see the setting.cfg file referred to above. There's a settings.py file in the xml_templates folder but I presume this is not where I need to change the DNS as outlined above. Not seeing the Plex app in trailers on atv either.
I suggest you get the plexconnect up and running under the standard settings first. By your post I am uncertain if you have it working or not. The Plex app is not in the trailers but takes over the Trailers app in Apple TV. What the PlexConnect does is pretends to be the Trailers app server and replaces the content with the content from the PMS. Which is why the plex connect python code has to be running in order for it to work.
In the settings.py you can edit your dnsmaster settings to match those of Tunlr and that should work. But one thing at a time.
Thanks for all the comments. I've finally created the settings.cfg file by double clicking the settings.py file. Please advise on which line I should be changing the DNS - is it:
ip_pms =
ip_plexconnect =
ip_dnsmaster =
I've changed it on the last line and then ran plexconnect.py file but still can't launch plexconnect on atv despite restarting it. I'm getting the following output from the plexconnect text file:
Yes. Settings.cfg not directly on the settings.py. Sorry I muddled that.
All u can suggest is that the OP get PlexConnect running normally first because it doesn’t sound like he’s been able to do so. Once it works then go in and change the settings.cfg.
Apologies for delay in getting back on this. I’ve taken Gh05t’s advice and gone back to basics and got PlexConnect running normally today. Great technology, thanks and kudos to all! Now I’d like to amend the DNS on the atv to the tunlr.net DNS to access US Netflix. If I do that do I need to also change the DNS on my PC or can I just amend the ip_dnsmaster line in the settings.cfg file? Thanks.
Update: Have changed DNS on ATV to match that of PC running PMS. Have set DNS on ip_dnsmaster line in settings.cfg to Tunlr’s DNS. All good now, accessing Plex on ATV and also US Netflix. To all other non-techies, you must keep PMS and plexconnect.py file running on PC, otherwise you won’t see anything on ATV. Thanks to all for the help.
