Hey guys I've been waiting for the PlexConnect for a while now, in the meantime I've been getting used to the Samsung Plexapp and wanted to know what variances exists fundamentally between the two versions. Considering that the AppleTV is just as closed as the Samsung Home Theatre is (if not more) what would be the advantages of running on the Apple TV versus staying on the Samsung?
i have a samsung D8005, from what i can see the black levels are ALOT better from the apple tv. - the problem is - this might get fixed by apple or changed and so on. You cant depend on it to work forever.

Think you misunderstood. The Apple TV delivers perfect blacks. The Samsung app does not due to micro dimming not working in Samsung apps. (Or I at least read that’s the explanation) I can see the difference with the naked eye.

Oh! every time i hear about their SDK there is always something ugly.
It is very strange they push the smart TV so much but make the 3rd party ecosystem so difficult.
Thanks for the feedback, so responsiveness and picture quality are rather the main points with some fringe benefits of themes. I still feel that running Plex off of a HTPC is probably the best bet. The ATV3 is just so small that its perfect for the living room - that being said I don't need another appliance if the Samsung is there anyway. I'll have to think more on it. Again appreciate the discussion.
