I belive NitoTv or ATV flash black will do the job. You can also edit your hosts file via ssh directly using nano or sftp.

Followed Plex Star commands in terminal (post 231)
Everything went well till last command and I got this error.

I can’t install Plexconnect on my Jailbroken aTV (5.3) using this easy install method. Following message appear on the Putty Screen when the “one liners” command is enter:

No idea what Wahlman has done there… but it looks like the second filename misses an “i”…

It was actually including an additional “i” in the filename that I misspelled awhile back:

It’s just a ssh only method to install your original theme or my fork without using filezilla or cyberduck using either of the one liners in that post that also allows users to also update their desired theme easily by doing a git pull, if desired from time to time. There is no reason to not use iBaa’s original method I just prefer using this and it is based off his original method’s code and I just modified it for my needs to save a few steps (FTP etc). I have multiple aTV2’s that I deploy so the easier the better for me

I believe I found an even easier solution to install this I have also included my optional development theme as well that will give you larger posters and a way to merge your local and shared libraries into one tab if desired (All Libraries):
Use putty for windows, a terminal for OS X or linux, or this for iOS Serverauditor
ssh root@ipaddress <--------replace ipaddress with your aTV ip address for example mine is:
ssh root@192.168.1.101
default aTV password = alpine
Follow these easy terminal commands. I have installed this on multiple atv2’s and so have others, set your dns to auto not manual. This automates nearly the entire aTV plexconnect installation for you. ssh into your aTV and enter these commands after your navigated to the folder where you placed them (nitoTV is the easiest way to install openssh for ssh access, also server auditor ). Paste either of these easy one liners using your favorite ssh client (no ftp required unless unspoofing your iOS):
iBaa (default) theme or Wahlmanj (custom) theme:
apt-get -y install git; rm -R /Applications/atvjailbreak; cd /Applications; git clone git://github.com/wahlmanj/atvjailbreak.git; cd /Applications/atvjailbreak; chmod +x installatv.bash; ./installatv.bash
once complete the aTV will reboot and you will have a new plexconnect button. Just sign into myplex and you should be all set with a portable PlexConnect host thanks to iBaa’s new code for owned and remote servers via myplex that gives you the experience of PlexConnect just like at home but anywhere.
Optional log back in to your atv via ssh after your atv reboots and type this if you want more apps by spoofing your iOS version to a higher iOS after navigating to the spoof.deb location:
cd /Applications/atvjailbreak; dpkg -i spoof.deb
If you need to unspoof the Info.plist for the aTV Firmware is located and must be named exactly as shown here:
/private/var/stash/Applications/AppleTV.app/info.plist

Once unspoofed reboot your aTV for the changes to take affect. Spoofing doesn’t work with badges since it changes the firmware to a higher iOS so after you are done I would recommend disabling the badges which can be easily done using my theme otherwise there is a way to specify your iOS in iBaa’s theme but I’m not sure (or remember) how to, to be honest with you.
Hopefuly the autoupdate plist works if not you can manually update by typing this into a terminal window after you ssh into your atv:
update.bash
For your shared content and local content to work away from home you must be successfully signed into myplex in your PMS. Also you must have your PMS port forwarded and pointed at your PlexConnect host for this to work right on your router if using it outside your LAN. If PlexConnect resides behind for example a synology box you must open these ports as well for it to work outside your lan tcp/udp.
If you only desire PlexConnect to work for your local content and don’t use myplex you can ignore the paragraph above this. If you share your content you still would need to be successfully signed into myplex in your PMS with your ports properly forwarded to you PMS host on your router or gateway.
Note - Keep in mind this will prevent AirControl to work since it uses port 80 which is required by PlexConnect.
Thanks very much for the fix, wahlman. I managed to install the Plexconnect using your original method (Non Easy type) on my Jailbroken aTV2, and it works very well. So I have not tested this new fix. I will give a trial when necessary. Thanks again
BTW, I have some movies ripped into mkv format with 2 audio tracks (English & Cantonese). I have no problem selecting and listening to different audio track while playing on PC Web-based Plex Player. However, both audio tracks are overlapped or mixed when using Plexconnect to play on aTV2 in spite of which audio track I select.
Any root cause or fix for this issue? am I the only one getting this issue?

Good chance you did a bad rip for the audio tracks portion. What did you use to rip them and what audio settings? Any chance to pull each track individually when ripping the audio portion to correct the issue?

First, allow me to correct the mistake in my early post about the video format, and it is mp4 format, not mkv. For the ripping work, in fact, it was done by one of my friends who is more knowledgeable and has got powerful PC to do this job. He told me he was using DVDFab to convert DVD to mp4 with multi-language audio and subtitles selected and other settings left as default.
I don’t see the conversion or video format has got any problem itself, because the audio plays fine both on Web-based Plex Player and PC player (e.g Potplayer), unless PMS or Plexconnect has some requirement for audio track setting?

Of course, if really no solution for it. I may just watch it on Web Plex Player or ask my friend to rip one more time with English Audio track only, when he is available. :-S
I installed PlexConnect directly onto my JB ATV2 and it worked perfectly, however this was several months ago and I am wondering if there is an update to PlexConnect now ? If there is then is there a simple way to update it from SSH ? Sorry I am away from home at the moment so I don’t know what version I am running.
Also is it normal that when playing a music album the ATV2 will only play 1 track and then stop ?

Just grab the latest from github, ftp it over to aTV2. With the next start it should work as usual.
Music: Yep, it’s kind of normal for older iOS. We never really found a way to correctly setup the tracks for continuous replay… That function got changed with newer versions of iOS, somehow during Apple’s on-boarding of Beats, I guess.

update.bash will pull in the latest updates from baa’s git or mine assuming you installed it using git clone using the method in my post prior to this.
In XMLConverter.py file you should comment the 'child.append(additionalBadges) line, as in below. This will get rid of the “Element additional media badges: This element is not expected”. error.
