PlexConnect on synology

Hi,

I'm note sure it's related to this project or any previous attempt :)

But i can't login in to my photo station anymore LAN:  10.0.1.2/photo  => Page couldn't be find, same error for 10.0.1.2/web/index.html

I have checked every thing i could think of incl. that Apace is running. Could I have change something like the DNS, web on 81 that I now have to reset.

I tried to uninstall this packages but still have the same problem.

Pls help :)

If you changed the Apache port to a differnt port number rather than setting up a reverse proxy you may have caused it.

The best thing might be to reverse it and then use the reverse proxy setup to avoid any issues with e.g. Photo Station.

I now this OT   :)

But since it doesn't work on LAN, 10.0.1.2/web or 10.0.1.2/photo it most be something else then just port 80 or?

Did you try 10.0.1.2:81/web or 10.0.1.2:81/photo ?

I'm really sorry to ask...

I have a DS1812 and an ATV3 and I didn't install plexconnect yet since I read that there were issues in the beginning with Synology and plexconnect. Now I wanna give it a try and to be honest when I read thru this thread it is very confusing.

Is there a tutorial how to install the new package or can someone summarize real quick (copy+paste with links) how to start from scratch with the latest release?

Thanks a lot!

Did you try 10.0.1.2:81/web or 10.0.1.2:81/photo ?

Yes, I'm testing with LAN and I have temporary turned off firewall.

with

10.0.1.2:80/web/index.php    I get a "synology" msg (in swedish) "Sorry, the page you are looking for is not found"

10.0.1.2:81/web/index.php    I get a Safari error page. Can't connect to server

=> I guess 80 is correct, something else is missing...

Edit:

I deactivated web station, removed web folder and activated web station again (new web folder) and it works, what was wrong? no idée but who cares :)

You mean you didn't try the old turn it off and on again before posting? Schoolboy error  :P

I'm having problems using AppleTV 3, Plex Media Server 0.9.7.22 (Synology Package), and plexconnect_noarch_0.1-1 on my DiskStation DS213.

I've set up PMS with several channels, but when I go to Channels > The Daily Show, I get the error "Plex Connect - No response from Plex Media Server".

If I go directly to http:// 10.0.1.64:32400 /video/thedailyshow in my computers web browser, the page will take a little while to load, but it will load and display the xml file for the show. Any ideas why the XMLConverter is seeing no response, but everything else on the network is able to get a response? Thanks!

Need some help please...

So I tried it myself as following:

- Installed Python 2.7.5-6

- Manually installed PlexConnect 0.1-1 (entered 8.8.8.8 at setup)

- Changed DNS at ATV3 to PMS

Problem is if I try to run it, it runs for about 2 seconds and then goes back to status "stopped". Here is the log:

Failed to create socket on UDP port 53: [Errno 98] Address Already in use

If I take a look in the settings.cfg, i get this:

[PlexConnect]

port_pms = 32400

enable_plexgdm = True

ip_dnsmaster = 8.8.8.8

ip_webserver = 0.0.0.0

loglevel = Normal

enable_dnsserver = True

ip_pms = 0.0.0.0

port_webserver = 81

So if I wanna change ip_pms to 192.168.1.10, it says permission denied (readonly file), if I then wanna change the permission with chmod it tells me operation not permitted.

Please some help, I'm a noob in ssh, but something is wrong here

Not all channels are supported at the moment, you may want to check in the channel sticky about specifics.

It looks as if you already have a DNS server running, have you installed the Synology DNS package?

Nope, the only packages I have running are:

- Antivirus Essential

- Download Station

- Perl

- Plex Media Server

- PlexConnect

- Python

I already uninstalled all necessary programs that i dont use and restarted my diskstation, but still the same problem...

You definitely already have something binding port 53.

Maybe someone who has a Synology will know what you can use to find out what is using it.

From commandline try

netstat -tulpn | grep ':53 '

It should show everything related to port 53. I don't know if netstat is present on a vanilla Synology...

First of all, thanks a lot for helping me... I entered the command and this is what I got back:

netstat: showing only processes with your user ID

No idea what it means :)

Thanks for the reply. I'm able to load the Daily Channel, ABC, and other channels on my AppleTV if I run PlexConnect directly from my Mac. Unless there is something specific about Synology -> AppleTV, my issue does not appear to be a channel specific issue. Any other thoughts?

System response:

have you tried rebooting the NAS? did you have an older version installed and did you remove it?

I rebooted a couple of times already and everything is up-to-date, really have no idea whats wrong... Everything else on my NAS runs tip-top!

They might require transcoding by the PMS. Your Mac is powerful enough but your NAS is not (check the Plex wiki on NAS devices; there is also a link at the bottom to an Excel sheet that will tell you your NAS's capabilities).
