Hello,

 

PlexConnect on my Ubuntu Desktop makes me crazy!! :S

 

I set up a Ubuntu Storage Server with PMS running on it. Then i downloaded the newest PlexConnect and set it up like that:

now i start PlexConnect with "sudo ./PlexConnect.py"

The IP for my Ubuntu PC is 192.168.188.55.
 

i cant get access on my aTV. (trailers are not available)

 

Certificate is on the aTV and in the certificates folder under assets.

 

the strange thing... if i copy the PlexConnect folder on my Windows machine and start it there it works like a charm...

 

any idea?

...don't modify the Settings.py code. No need for that. There will be a Settings.cfg file generated, for you to do the changes.

ah ok so i only have to download the plexconnect and then start ?

firewall i dont find any settings for that... and i dont have made changes to the system.

1) yes - if I remember correctly :-)

2) well, PlexConnect/python need to be allowed to access those ports (53,80,443). I don't know anything about Ubuntu, so I really can't tell you where those settings might be...

i have checked the ufw from ubuntu... its deactivated =( with the same settings it is working on windows... so i think its a permission problem or something like that... :S

Take a look at my how to I know its for osx but maybe you can find your answer there since linux is similar to osx/unix.

...before we need the certificate, we should at least one "DNS intercept" event (trailers.apple.com).

name...: did you change the DNS setting in your aTV?

dns on atv is 192.168.188.55 (my ubuntu server with pms and plexconnect running)

@shapethelola on my windows machine it is working with the SAME plexconnect folder.(just change the ip to 192.168.188.54 in settings and atv dns)

Edit: now i have try it with the same computer and a other harddrive (windows 8) same problem... if i start the plex connect on my notebook with the refer on my server it works like a charm =( but not if i have pms and plexconnect on the same machine...

Edit: ok im an idiot.. on windows it works... i disable the iis... but ubuntu didnt work =(

Did you try typing the full directory?

it seems you can't access port 80 due to a rights issue. I have no idea what this actually means, do you have another web serve running?

yes that was the windows problem... i hat the iis activated on port 80... for windows the problem is fixed but not for ubuntu (first post)

Well everything seems to be okay, post your Settings.cfg

and I still think this is a certificate problem as it all seems to be correct. I don't think we have a log error if it can't find the certificate, right anybody?

There is an error if the certificate cannot be found by plexconnect now. But nothing if its related to the certificate on the ATV
