I, being anti-social, at least in the fact that I do not wish to exchange my personal information or surfing habits for use of social media web sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, do not subscribe to these or other ‘social’ based sites.
I know that the US in which I live there is a ‘no purchase necessary’ law.
Though the social media sites do not “require purchase”, they do and will sell any information they can glean about me to their advertisers and partners.
I was also wondering how I could participate plexivus without a FB and Twitter account, very dissapointing. Never had a FB and Twitter account and it stays like that.
You wont be able to because the whole thing is more or less (or really, just more) a marketing drive.
The reason they want mentions on social media is to improve Plex profile.
It would seem purchase IS required, indirectly.
(Trade FB and it’s advertising partner stalking monitoring for chances to win)
Wish I had money and time to challenge companies that do this in court (not just Plex).
Not sure how you could even bring forth a court case - if a private company wants to have a giveaway, and they set up rules for entry that say you have to enter using FB, then that’s their right isn’t it? You don’t have to enter if you don’t want to, right?
@kegobeer-plex -
But I do want to enter.
I have to join FaceBook to even be considered. That in and of itself, if facebook cost $$ directly to become a member, would be illegal in my part of the world.
But, wait, FB is free, right? The consideration rule doesn’t apply?
It’s not really free.
To join Facebook doesn’t cost monetarily, but, it’s terms of service and usage basically sells my privacy as a commercial product.
People buy facebook accounts with themselves as the payment.
I think that could make a good case in a court - Trading privacy for consideration in a contest.
I’ve seen no alternate method of entry (AMOE) from Plex on how to try to win.

Sadly marking this as answer, as I’ve seen no official answer for an AMOE.
There is no other way to enter. However, you can use a temporary or throw away email to create these accounts. You do not have to use the same email you are using for your Plex account. If you win, just contact us and we can still apply the prize to your Plex account.

Marked as another answer.
Thanks, but marketing through FB (for any product) is the last thing I wish to encourage FB as a company, fake accounts or not.
I just won’t win anything, and it’s a shame imo that those of us who don’t wish to encourage “privacy as a trade good” have no way to do so.

I might be wrong (probably am), but wasn’t the News survey just sent some sort of “Plexivus” entry for those participating? IIRC, it was sent in the early part of last week and had prizes of XBOX, lifetime Plex Pass and such. Maybe that was not for the “Plexivus” contest and the survey not sent to everybody?
If there was a news survey, I somehow missed it.
And even if so, the entry page for Plexivus states to share that you did “x” task on Facebook to enter.

Not sure. I’m not aware of any other giveaway we are doing.

Yeah, I get some people are against social media sites. I’ll bring this up with the marketing team and see if would consider some other forms of entry into these giveaways.
